Deep brown in color with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is slightly weak, but is of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is of coffee and roasted malts. Slightly thin for a stout. Dry mouthfeel.

Poured on tap at Flossmoor Station (Flossmoor, Il) as the guest stout. Pours an extremely dark black pour, opaque, with decent brownish cocoa head in the snifter glass I’ve become very accustomed to as a former and 5 year employee of Flossmoor Station. Aromas are initially chocolatey, light dark roasty malts, with a touch of oak, and very vague bourbon notes. Initial is a little thin, but flavors come through: smoother roasted malt, chocolatey goodness, light oak, and light booziness with a touch of harshness and roast on the backend. A touch of bourbon lingers in the body with the oak. small flavors in a touch of a thin body. A little coffee? This is decent, but more on a "well made beer, but not overally special" kind of jaunt. I’d drink this again, but would not seek it out. Lacks complexity

Bomber shared with barrios, jbo, and MmmcKay. Pours dark brown with chestnut highlights and ring of tan head. Aroma of rum soaked fruit and an earthy cherry note. Flavor of bitter roast chocolate and dirt. Medium thin body with medium low carbonation and a chalky finish.

Guest tap at Flossmoor. Pours black with a frothy beige head. Light carbonation. Aroma is very weak, surprisingly. Weak aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, coffee, and oatmeal. Taste is of roasted malt, chocolate, dairy creamer, and oatmeal. Lingering taste of coffee and alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy, bordering on watery. All the flavors are extremely muted, making for a very weak beer. overall

deep black pour with a medium tan head that doesnt retain well and minimal lacing. has a significant roasted malt aroma ad smells subtley of chocolate milk. it has more flavor than the aroma suggests with a nice hoppiness that balances chocolate and mild anise flavors. mouthfeel is creamy with a chocolately but slightly chalky finish.

Bottle on 12/28/2008 from River City Cellars. Dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Sweet chocolate, roast, light coffee, oak, and a bit of floral hops. Roasty, chocolate and floral hop flavor, some coffee hints with a bit of oak, fairly bitter. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

Sampled with Barrios and Butters. Very dark in color. DARK brown almost black body. On nose picked up roasted walnuts aromas with bits of cola. Not as think on the palate as I would have expected for a stout. Bitter cacoa and coffee. Not bad. Wouldn’t buy on my own though.

Bottle with Butters for my 100th. Pours a tan head and dark brown body. Smells of chocolate and sweet roasted malt. Tastes of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Medium body with a slight bitter finish.
