(22oz. bottle) Pours a dark brown (near black) body with a small tan head. Aroma of roastiness, chocolate, coffee, grapefruit, and toasted cereal. Flavor of chocolate, lactose, marshmallow, and roasted malt with a semi-dry oak finish.

Bomber, shared by NachlamSie. Pours very dark brown with decent beige head. The aroma is pretty strong oak at first, but once I get past that, it has plenty of chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malt notes. The flavor is mostly oak and sweet chocolate. There are a few vanilla tones once in a while, too, as well as a rather subtle bitterness. The aftertaste is very oaky again, with just a slight hint of alcohol. Not superior, but quite a drinkable stout.

Bomber split with Tronraner. Pours a dark red/brown which looks near black in dim light. The head is a tan ring after just a minute. Serious straight-up oak is noted in the aroma. I get brown rice, oats, earth, and baking chocolate as well. The mouthfeel is medium. Strong oaky presence in the flavor as well, but it works very well with the ashy, oaty body. A little chocolate comes out in the finish to round out things. This is a grainy, earthy, and woody beer. I like it.

Deep chestnut body beneath a frothy tan head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, citrus, wood. Flavor is dark chocolate and coffee with a slight hoppy finish. The medium body could use some heft. Otherwise, a pleasant stout.

22 oz. bottle on 3/8/2008. Deep ruby/brown pour that is transparent when held up to strong light. The tan head is large and creamy, and leaves very good lace. The oak is quite subtle, with coffee being dominant, and hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, and pine coming through. Medium/full body with some sharpness and bite on the palate. Not at all sweet with only some burnt caramel character initially, and roasted malt bitterness taking center stage.

Pours black with a creamy off white head. Aroma is wood, chocolate, and roasted coffee. Big thick mouthfeel with a smooth finish. Definitely roasted flavors with oak in this one, nice idea to age this one in oak barrels. A little more bite on the finish would make this a premium oak aged stout. I would really like to see an oak aged oatmeal-imperial stout out of this recipe packing about 10%. I can see that hypothetical brew as being one of my favorites. C’mon Boulder make it happen!

On tap pours a black color with a dark coffee aroma. Light tan head fades quickly and laces the glass well. Good malty body and has a sweet dark roasted finish.
