Aroma was heavy with chocolate and coffee notes. Flavor was sweet with a nice dark cocoa note and a mildly dry finish. Very rich at the same time the coffee notes were too mild to detect as was the oak. It was creamy but at the same time was not very heavy. A very good beer but just short of great. Definitely would have again. swoopjones (1900), Buffalo, New York, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 21, 2008 On tap @ Coles Buffalo NY. Not really impressed by this one. Watery. Pours a nice deep black. aroma has roasted malts & slight oak. Mouthfeel was light & watery. Lacking the balls I thought it would have. OK Maddog (242), Kettering, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2008 Had on draft at Boston’s north of Dayton, OH. A very good oatmeal stout that went down quite well. Bigger than most oatmeals at 7.5%, I was very irritated that it was served in a snifter instead of a pint. This stout was smooth, creamy yet had a good measure of roastiness to it. Very unique and enjoyable. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Thanks to Dragonstout. Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is mostly roasted malts and barley. Tastes the same, plus hints of cocoa, coffee, and sweet malt. Finishes with a clean cocoa and coffee flavor. gearbike (416), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 18, 2008 Just short of dark with no head. Big coffee and raisin scent. Lots of coffe and choclate taste. something is just lacking that makes this beer hard to drink. It is rather thin. Has the basic stout flavors but no real punch. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Enjoyed on draft at Cambridge Common.
Beautiful dark (not quite black) pour - almost looked to have texture to it, if that makes any sense. Thick tan head. Looked delicious. Aroma strong with coffee and chocolate notes, but balanced - this wasn’t an "in your face" type of aroma. Taste was delicious coffee notes and only mild bitterness. I thought this one stood up well to some of the other rich stouts that I’ve had, many of which are ranked higher than this fine brew. Nice job, guys. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Pours almost black in color with large light brown head. The head is mostly lasting with excellent lacing. The aroma is malty with chocolate hints, roasted coffee with a hint of grain. The initial flavor is bitter, roasty a little coffee a little cocoa. The body is medium, the texture creamy/watery with soft carbonation. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 16, 2008 Had on draft at Brews. Pour was dark brown with nice creamy tan head. Aroma was all coffee. Taste was pretty much dry roasted coffee. I did not taste the barrell aged, or any hint of sweetness in this one. Easy drinker, but the flavors did not jump out as I had hoped.
