Commercial Description:
A perfect companion any way you pass time, this British-style pale ale is exceptionally soft and sweet compared with highly hopped American-style pale ales. The hop subtlety, distinct malt character and rich caramel color of Pass Time Pale Ale work together to create a smooth, lightly carbonated ale.

thought id try this as one of my four beers i routinely buy at the end of my shift at the beer store i work at...a customer had reccomended all of the boulder beers to me earlier in the day. maybe i just chose the wrong one. was expectly something a little hoppier going with the west coast style ipa and pale ales but this is not what i tasted. too sweet and watery. was thinking of just having one beer tonight, but after this, i still yearn for something more

Pours copper with a small white head. Smells of yogurt, cookie dough and sugar. Tastes of caramel and toffee with nothing much in the way of hops to speak of. Too sweet for a pale ale.

Pours golden with small white head. Nose is malty and floral hops. The flavor is the same, muted but well balanced. Nothing reallly pops out at me as special. Average mouthfeel. Overall OK.

A golden brew with a nice white head. Drink it quickly before the head disappears, there is nothing there that grabs you and makes you want to sip slowly and enjoy. It is light bodied and is slightly sour with a a bit of lingering hops.

Draught. Pours copper with a small off-white rocky film and lined lacing. Sweet fruit (peach) hop and caramel light roasted malt (cereal) aroma. Caramel malt flavor with a fruity hop finish. Medium bodied and refreshing.

Color is clear amber, with a nice, thick off-white head. Aroma is fresh, but gives off no particular sensations, not a one, nothing. Such is the case with "bitters", but that’s why I rarely enjoy them. A little floral, and dry, but that’s stretching. Very low-lying hops, straight-forward palate, light body, extremely easy to drink. That also means, it offers little pleasure beyond swift, trouble-free consumption. Some soft hop bite jumps in from time to time, and leaves with the too-short finish. A very ordinary, very, very pale ale.

Appearance: very pale amber color, underneath a good, well-held, creamy head. Aroma: fresh, soft, minorly citric, ...nothing else. Taste: Quite mild, with the hops, the malt, everything, so mild as to be mind-numbingly boring. Some fruitiness arrives, and thrives, a bit, peach, apricot, apple, but only very, very slightly. A very mellow ale, nicely integrated, but altogether ...BOR-ing! Let’s try it again... yeah, sorry, there’s no spark, little to remember. I can see why they named it "Pass Time", yeah, the beer to guzzle when you’ve got nothing better to do, apparently. "Pass Time" Pale Ale...ah, jeez, how dumb do we gotta get? Drinkability goes down because, although many may be comfortable guzzling such a thing, I succomb to crippling boredom after 1/2 of a bottle.... Good God, this is the 3rd Boulder beer if had recently that has bored me to pieces...what is up???

Bottle from Premier shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & tupalev - courtesy of rudolf. Light ruby-amber colour. Aroma is very mild, with a sour quality that makes me think the beer might be off. Flavour is muted, some citric notes, short finish. If I hadn’t had 19 samples before it, maybe I would’ve gotten a bit more out of it, but I found it pretty bland and boring.

Bottle, thanks Rudy and Greg. Amber colour (imagine!), small white head. Slight hops in aroma. Taste is ok - some malt, little hops, not much else. Watery. Blah. Word from word of my drunken end of the night notepad rating.
