Commercial Description:
A perfect companion any way you pass time, this British-style pale ale is exceptionally soft and sweet compared with highly hopped American-style pale ales. The hop subtlety, distinct malt character and rich caramel color of Pass Time Pale Ale work together to create a smooth, lightly carbonated ale.

Pours clear copper with gold edges and nice quarter inch head. The aroma has a very inviting malty character of roasted malts and toffee along with some citrus and floral hops. The taste is no surprise since it is much like the nose with initial spice hops, citrus hops and carbonation bite that becomes increasingly more floral. Midway the mild roasty malts and toffee malts well up and ride into the after taste with a building malt sweetness. Excellent Pale

Pours amber with a thick white head. Honey, malt, and a bit of caramel in the nose. Flavor is similar, just a touch of hops thrown in as well as armpit. Finishes smooth. Decent.

Bottle... Clear golden ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Diminishes to a small, creamy, white layer that floats endlessly atop the brew. The lightly citric, fruity aroma offers additional notes of toffee and pomegranate with a dab of grapefruit. The flavor provides mild toffee sweetness alongside moderate, citrusy bitterness and subtle acidity. Leans just a hair on the bitter side of balance. Almost medium-bodied with medium carbonation. Thin, lightly bitter, citric finish.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a clear amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Thin spotty lacing. Nice toasted malt aroma. Flavor is sweet toasted malt. Clean, medium body beer. Nothing fancy, but a good easy drinking session beer. Worth a try.

bottle from total wine & more tampa -- I’m surprised how low this is rated. I think this is a pretty good example of an english pale ale. Amber with offwhite head. A hint of hops and malt in the aroma. A light fresh sweet taste -- pear. A little thin, but drinkable and lively.

The "pass time" moniker is very accurate- very average aroma, appearance, and palate. The flavor isnt great, but i would call it more pleasant than offensive. Pours a maroonish golden color with copious head. Smooth palate and very subtle hops. A good choice if you have nothing else better to do, but I prefer other brews from Boulder.

Sampled at Denver Airport Mile High Grill. Clear yellow gold, white head, no lace. This looks and smells like a featureless (but clean) lager. A mildly pale malt palate with very little hoppiness to speak of. I was surprised to see that this is listed as an english pale ale.

19-Mar-07 (12 oz bottle: Obtained 13-Jul-06 in trade with gputty, thanks Geoff!) This is a good name for this beer. It’s a beer to just pass the time without much thinking or analysis of what is going on around you. The beer is sweet and caramely with little else happening, and for an English pale ale, the flavor profile seems not quite right. While there is a nice toffee finish, the beer starts off way too caramely, and furthermore, the UK hops are apparently in hiding. Toffee and caramel in the nose. An easy-drinking beer, it’s medium in both the body and carbonation, and the mouthfeel is very soft and round. Golden-amber in color with near-perfect clarity. The off-white head rises to about half an inch before eventually dissipating completely, leaving no lace on the glass. Overall, the beer isn’t unpleasant, it’s just one-dimensional and blah.
