Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Dark brown with a medium tan slowly fading head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, molasses and brown sugar. Thin and watery body tastes of chocolate, roasted malt, molasses and sweet malt.

Draft at the brewpub. A pitch black beer with a thin borwn head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt as well as strong notes of chocolate and light notes of alcohol that burns slightly in the throat, which surprises me at 5.5% ABV.

Bottle. Black pour with a creamy tan head. Has a chocolatey roasted aroma with a taste that follows. Flavor is nice, and mostly dominated by a bittersweet coffee like taste. Has a silky smooth mouthfeel, not bad.

Rating 75 from CO, and 1775 overall. Bottle. Roasty nose with some dark chocolate and some deep gritty, earthy hops notes, syrupy red berry and very strong Doppelbock notes. Lots of cocoa / hot chocolate! Coke pour with a deeply tanned head. Taste of milk chocolate and cocoa notes, a touch of brown sugar and strong nuts under slight toffee and roast. Spritely fruity notes on the exit. Thin but very creamy body. Very enjoyable! Underrated, methinks.

Bottle: Dark black with a tan head. Sweet choco aroma with flavors of roasted, sweet chocolate flavors. The body is thick and the sweetness continues into the aftertaste. If you are looking for a non-charcoal, non-smoky, but sweet porter - this is where to go.

Opaque black with a dimpled brownish head. Aroma is somewhat doggy with a light roasty molasses quality. Taste is same, but sweet and watery.

This was my favorite out of the variety pack. Well blended porter with a light coffee and burnt character that went down very smooth. Well blended brew. Would purchase again.

Bottle, #387 Black pour with nice tan head. Great aroma of toffee and roasted malt. Flavor follows with a bit of sweetness. Pretty good porter.
