Some nice lacing persists. Aroma is caramel, muted chocolate, and warm taffy. It’s kinda unique, but everything is pretty subdued. Flavor is caramel, raisin, chocolate, distant roastiness. Again, there’s potential here, but it’s held back. Thin-bodied, bitter finish. Could be better. JMFG (1514), Florida, USA

A slight nuttiness and some roast is pulled from the aroma with some effort. Very light chocolate notes on the taste, light toastiness. A bland porter offering. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 2, 2008 12-oz. Black with a towering, thick, fairly moussy, somewhat sudsy tan head. Lots of swirling lace. Looks outstanding, just gorgeous. Modest nose of CO2, yeast, chalk, and sour milk. Body’s a little bit on the watery side of medium, very little carb. Light mid-palate with some very restrained chocolate notes, chalk, sour milk, and a little tiny bit of roast. No finish. This one doesn’t work too hard to impress you.
