Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Bottle. Pours black, with very little watery head. Some nice lacing persists. Aroma is caramel, muted chocolate, and warm taffy. It’s kinda unique, but everything is pretty subdued. Flavor is caramel, raisin, chocolate, distant roastiness. Again, there’s potential here, but it’s held back. Thin-bodied, bitter finish. Could be better.

Botlle. Black pour, thick tan head. A slight nuttiness and some roast is pulled from the aroma with some effort. Very light chocolate notes on the taste, light toastiness. A bland porter offering.

12-ounce bottle - opaque dark brown color with a thick tan foamy head. Roasted aroma. Medium body, roasted malt flavor dominates. Somewhat smooth mouthfeel. Dry finish. A bit too roasted in the overall balance.

From a 12 oz bottle poured black with a medium tan head and lots of lacing. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors are roasted malts with more coffee than chocolate, and there is a dry bitter finish. Nice drinkable porter.

12-oz. Black with a towering, thick, fairly moussy, somewhat sudsy tan head. Lots of swirling lace. Looks outstanding, just gorgeous. Modest nose of CO2, yeast, chalk, and sour milk. Body’s a little bit on the watery side of medium, very little carb. Light mid-palate with some very restrained chocolate notes, chalk, sour milk, and a little tiny bit of roast. No finish. This one doesn’t work too hard to impress you.
