Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

12-ounce bottle - opaque dark brown color with a thick tan foamy head. Roasted aroma. Medium body, roasted malt flavor dominates. Somewhat smooth mouthfeel. Dry finish. A bit too roasted in the overall balance.

Bottle. Pours almost black with a tan head. Roasted malt aroma with light chocolate notes. Medium body. Roasted/burnt malt flavor with coffee and sweet chocolate notes. A pretty good beer.

From a 12 oz bottle poured black with a medium tan head and lots of lacing. Nose of chocolate and coffee. Medium mouthfeel. Flavors are roasted malts with more coffee than chocolate, and there is a dry bitter finish. Nice drinkable porter.

12-oz. Black with a towering, thick, fairly moussy, somewhat sudsy tan head. Lots of swirling lace. Looks outstanding, just gorgeous. Modest nose of CO2, yeast, chalk, and sour milk. Body’s a little bit on the watery side of medium, very little carb. Light mid-palate with some very restrained chocolate notes, chalk, sour milk, and a little tiny bit of roast. No finish. This one doesn’t work too hard to impress you.

Pours very dark brown with a dark crimson hue and large soapy deep tan head. The aroma has dark fruits, some sharpness, roasted malt and light coffee. Medium / thin body with thin prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with lightly burnt malt, coffee-esque bitterness and some thinness to the taste. the finish is quite roasted and has light hop presence. A decent porter.

Molases head. Smell of pepper and chocolate. Taste is spicy with copper and coffee. Smooth and drinkable but probably wont get it again.
