Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Pours like a dark ruby that you barely see any light coming through. The head comes and goes quickly. I’d give it a 4 if the head stayed around longer than 5 seconds. Nose is okay. Some faint roasted coffee scents with little much else to it. It almost smells watery. Taste starts off pretty good with a slight malty edge that goes to the roasted coffee, but quickly vanishes. What is odd is that the flavor kicks in again after disappearing and gives you a stronger coffee flavor than before. Really weird, but good in it’s own way. Still though, not as robust as it should be. Feel is lame. Watery, watery, watery. Just lacks substance of any kind. Drinkability? No. Won’t go back to it again. Can’t suggest you giving it a try.

great black pour with red highlights. dark beige head, not too big, not too small. smells of roasted malt, even a fresh roast coffee. smooth and velvety. good body without being too heavy. in fact it was a bit lighter than i expected. Great roasted flavor. all the flavors are present- coffee, deep roasted malt, chocolate with an ample hop presence lingering in the backround. Great stout with a good balance of flavors.

A gift from the mountainous field site. Dark red in color, small tan head., light roasted coffee and dates. Sweeter than expected lacks carbonatation.

Not pumped about it. Standard porter, except the aftertaste is of Worcestershire, which I hate in a porter. I have no desire to drink this again.

12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with little tan head that wears away quickly. The aroma is light with coffee, malt, and a little hint of alcohol. Initial taste is mildly sweet with a finish that is a little bitter and tastes like bad chocolate. I expected more body from this beer, but it was pretty thin and had almost no carbonation. Wish I would have tried a different selection from Boulder as my first beer from them. Would try it on tap, but wouldn’t buy it again.

Black, with some brown around the edges. Nice Dense, rocky beige head. Aroma of vanilla and coffee and a touch of bourbon. A bit on the thin side, but that’s not really a bad thing. Coffee and vanilla, with a bit of a winey finish.
