| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 22, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours a very dark brown with little tan head that wears away quickly. The aroma is light with coffee, malt, and a little hint of alcohol. Initial taste is mildly sweet with a finish that is a little bitter and tastes like bad chocolate. I expected more body from this beer, but it was pretty thin and had almost no carbonation. Wish I would have tried a different selection from Boulder as my first beer from them. Would try it on tap, but wouldn’t buy it again. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 19, 2007 Black, with some brown around the edges. Nice Dense, rocky beige head. Aroma of vanilla and coffee and a touch of bourbon. A bit on the thin side, but that’s not really a bad thing. Coffee and vanilla, with a bit of a winey finish. | 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Poured from bottle...very little to no head. Aroma is rich coffee but not to strong. The little head that there was disappears immediately The apprearance of the beer. Heavy coffee flavor...although it has a metallic twinge that turns me off. This is very watery for a porter.... truegen (165), Puyallup, Washington, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 19, 2007 Bottle from 99 Bottles in Federal Way. My wife insisted I get it because of the label. Minimal head, no lacing. Nose is pretty good, with coffee/roasted malt. Color was nearly opaque black--just a touch of deep ruby evident. The flavor was a solid coffee, chocolate, plus a light honey-caramel touch, but the body was on the light side. Previous reviewer says almost a schwarzbier, and that’s a good observation. Good thing I like schwarzbiers! Very drinkable. Good lesson for all: let others occasionally take you out of your norms, even for silly reasons like a label. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 18, 2007 Pours black with medium tan head. Nose is coffee and roasted malt. Strong roasty flavors, rather dry. The best porters to me have vinious notes, and this is just all roastiness, almost a shwarzbier. OK I guess. Tejas (704), Dallas, Texas, USA
