| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 13, 2007 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a large tan head and good lacing. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Taste is mostly roasted malt with hints of coffee and cocoa. Mild intensity. Pretty ho-hum. Nice full body and easy to drink, but was served well under the recommended temperature. DrnkMcDermott (1854), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 11, 2007 "Loose" 12 oz. bottle from Sam’s Wines, Downrs Grove. Opens to a nice smell of coffee, molasses, a touch of smoke, and cola. Pours a proper dark color, but with a fizzy, short-lived head. Despite that, a nice enough taste. Some rich chocolately porter malts, more of that smoke, but not too much. Again, the carbonation is too heavy for this style. OK beer. No date, but neck label celebrates the brewery’s 25th anniversary in 2004. jigglyjock (159), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Aroma of roasted malt, creamed corn, caramel, smoke, and a slight hint of coffee. Color is dark brown with ruby highlights. Descent tan brown, frothy head. Flavor of roasted malt with astringency, caramel, corn, and coffee with a bitter hop and astringent finish. Mouth feel is moderate to heavy carbonation with a viscous mouth feel. I don’t really care for porter, especially the ones that have a astringent character from the roasted malts. This is one of those astringent porters. Lubiere (4546), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 9, 2007 A deep dark porter with a thick dark creamy moka head. Aroma of chocolate and cheap coffee, a bit oxidized. In mouth, a rathe rlight sweet chocolate taste, no hopping present, short in mouth, signs of oxidation. Bottle was bought at BOTW, Oct. 2006, 1.30$. Dubbercody (214), Vancouver, Washington, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 4, 2007 Good roast nose, drinkable, somewhat bitter but coffee comes out in the initial taste to quickly fall out to the bitterness again. All in all I have to say it could be better and it could be worse. I didn’t really enjoy this beer. A beer of the month offering that fell short. Reid (1091), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 31, 2007 Very dark mahogany beer, almost black with a lovelly lush , frothy tan head.
Aroma subdued but its that of treacle/dark toffee malts.
Semi-roasty bitterness to taste,, hints of fruit, juicy, slight, finishes quite milky.
Quite well carbonated for a porter, and rather thin in mouthfeel for the stylle.
Overall not a great porter , but its certainlly very much drinkable.
I would say this is oddly a porter i might enjoy more in the heat of summer. natejgood (190), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jan 20, 2007 I tried this beer out of the bottle after pouring it into a pint glass. The first thing I noticed about the beer is that it looks almost black and very dense. No light penetrates the beer. The head was much lighter and thinner than I would have expected after looking at the beer. The beer has a slight smell of molases and malt. The beer felt a little thin in my mouth compared to many porters I have tried. The beer’s flavor wasn’t my favorite. It tasted malty with a faint hint of coffee was and too sweet for my liking (very drinkable though).
