Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Boring. One dimensional. The previous said it perfectly, irony taste. Not very rich tasting for a porter.

Black pour thin tan head. Basic flavors of coffee, chocolate, that then led into a slight smokey and irony aftertaste which is never good. Won’t get again.

(12oz bottle) Minimal tan head atop cola-black body. Aroma is medium sweet, mocha, some roast, light cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, coffee, cherry, some chocolate. Watery light-medium body, undercarbonated.

Bottle from Super Saver. Burnt sienna pour with minimal tan head. Aroma of roasty maly, some chocoff, vanila, and molasses. The flavor was roasty malty, with mid-palate coffee, almonds, and chocolate syrup hints. Rather light palate for a porter.

From Bottle. PD’s Pub, Pgh, PA. Poured black, with thin fizzy head. Aroma of lightly toasted malts. Flavor of chocolate, roasty notes, and a slight sweetness in the finish, I think from caramel. Astringint, fizzy, thin mouthfeel, light bodied. No hoppiness whatsoever.

Bottle. Black colour with a creamy head. Lovely aroma of roastedness, sweetness and little hoppy. Light flavour of roastedness and chocolate, ends up dry.
