Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

bottle - Poured black with a thin, disappearing head. The roast malt aroma is typical for the style but good. The flavor was of course mainly of roast malts with some coffee notes and a mildly hoppy finish. The medium body did not seem terribly watery to me, but it could have been a bit thicker. This beer was quite drinkable. It just seemed quite average or a little below for a porter though.

Bottle. Black pour, medium head. Roasty malt aroma, not very assertive, with some chocolate. Similar flavors, and a bit watery - tho not as bad in body as Pass Time or Sundance. Not bad, but not great.

Black in color with a small foamy light brown head. Initial taste of cola that yields to a slightly biiter aftertaste. A nice balanced and drinkable porter.

Bottle. Pours a deep black with a spare diminishing off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, mild chocolate and light hops. Flavour of sweet, slightly roasted malt and a bit of coffee. Very watery flavour and thin bodied making this a mediocre Porter.

12 oz pours very dark bodied, almost no head. Smells like chocolate and alcohol. The taste starts sweet and finishes with a slight hop and mostly nutty taste. Very thick yet smooth palate. A decent American porter.

It had a spare head with good lacing. The color was black. It had a very smooth taste. A very balanced beer!
