Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

12 oz pours very dark bodied, almost no head. Smells like chocolate and alcohol. The taste starts sweet and finishes with a slight hop and mostly nutty taste. Very thick yet smooth palate. A decent American porter.

It had a spare head with good lacing. The color was black. It had a very smooth taste. A very balanced beer!

This porter pours a muddy black color with a fizzy, light-brown head. Aroma is of moderate malts with hints of burnt/nutty scents as well as molasses. There was also a hint of olive aroma. Initial flavor is moderately sweet with a light bitter finish. This does not taste thick like a usual porter. Medium body on the mouth with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. There is a light coal taste.

12 oz. bottle: Pours black with a light brown head that is mostly lasting. Coffee and chocolate is evident in the roasted aroma. Initial flavor is coffee that gives it light bitterness from start to finish. A smooth and good Porter!

One bottle from BOTW (X-mas 05) I was suprised by the almost lack of a head on this beer. The roasted coffee and chocolate aromas and flavors were average with a slightly bitter ending. The next porter I tried was much better.

This was kind of a boring one-dimiensional porter. Roasty chocolate aroma int he aroma and the flavor. Syrupy and almost sweet, on the chocolate with just a hint of raosted coffee. Not my cup of tea when it comes to porters.

Bottle from Premier Gourmet, Buffalo. Pours a very dark brown with a small tan head. Very still body, almost flat - makes me think there might be something wrong with the bottle. Aroma is sweet and a bit smoky, with some roast in the background. More smoke and roast in the flavour, with a lingering coffeeish finish. Not too bad.
