Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Chocolate, oats and light coffee aroma. Black oily pour with mocha head. Chocolate\toffee malt rules the day, with some caramel sweetness as well. Palate is somewhat lively but mostly creamy. A solid porter.

Pours a nice brown color with a tan head. Aroma is caramel, toast, roast, and some earthy notes. Flavor is caramel, toast, nutty, and a bitter roasty finish.

From Bottle of Boulder Sampler pack. Finish was a bit dry and bitter for my liking. Huge carbonation affects mouthfeel.

12 oz bottle from Bier Stein. Pours cola brown, thick tan two inch head that lasts pretty much the duration of the beer. Aroma is thin, mostly malt and light chocolate. Flavor is light chocolate, malt and some slight burnt coffee notes. Very thin mouthfeel, too thin really. Another mediocre porter.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep brown, mostly black body with a thin, tan head that dissipates immediately and leaves a light lacing around the edges. Aroma is sweet and malty with some mild earth, roasty bitterness, chocolate, and some light fruit and caramel. Flavor is sweet with a good amount of semi-astringent, burnt roasts. Lots of chocolate, some coffee, and sweet cherries. Finishes dry with a long sweet roast, burnt coffee, grainy and light acidic fruit. Palate is light and a little thin bodied, but very smooth. Overall, a decent porter. Has a sweet and robust taste to it that makes it enjoyable enough. The body is a bit thin and some of it doesn’t quite come together at times though. A few adjustments could make this stand out more.

Pours a dark brown that allows a lot of light. Doesn’t look like a porter. Head is a finger thick and tan. The nose is weird, old, English smelling, sweet, smells like a brown ale, musty. The flavor is papery, shows some peanut shell, tastes like an old oxidized brown ale, mild sweetness. Palate is smooth
