Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Poured from bottle into a shaker glass. Interesting khaki colored- head with an almost black body. Ruby tints appear when held to the light. Medium to full body. Rich sweet-ish malt and roastiness in the aroma. Flavor had chocolate notes, and a little coffe, but not very inspiring.

Pours dark brown, but not nearly black. Nose has mild coffee or bittersweet character but not overpowering. Roasted malt flavor is reminiscent ot other simple porters. Finishes clean and perhaps a bit thin.

The question is: Can you get this here on earth, or do you need to travel by space shuttle to get to the planet that serves this? Dark cola like color with a thin slightly fizzing head. Fairly strong aroma of coffee and molasses. Taste is heavier on the coffee as well, not as well balanced as some of the better porters I’ve had. A little dry on the finish as well. This is average, but no where near top notch. I like the initial mouthfeel, but the finish leaves me unsatisfied. Planet porter, recommended by only 2 out 5 astronomers.

12oz. bottle. Nearly opaque black red, with a small creamy light brown head. Biscuit, earthen roasty malt aroma. Mild roastiness, brown malt and a tangy sweetness. Finish is residual sweetness, hints of roastiness. Mouthfeel is medium light, slightly dry.

Nearly opaque brown/black with a solid khaki head. Bready nose with some roasted malt notes, slightly sweet. Farily sweet, with roasted notes, a somewhat odd tang in the finish, and a decent bitter kick.

(Bottle) Pours a black body with a large tan head. Aroma of malt, grain, and cocoa. Flavor of toasted malt, nuts, coffee, green pepper, and chocolate with a dry, somewhat bitter finish.

Draught. Pours dark with a thick tan head. Some chocolate and coffee. Smokey overtones. Decent porter and better than the rating suggests.

The aroma is one of a tootsie-roll in a smoke shop. The color is dark brown with a good thick bubbly head. The taste is a combination of dark malt, coffee, and smoke. After swallowing the taste turns metallic.
