Commercial Description:
Planet Porter is a big beer for everyone. Don't be afraid of the dark; this beer is very drinkable and remarkably smooth, brewed for a malty, coffee-like flavor. A once almost extinct style of ale, Boulder Brewing helped revive the category and this is now one of the oldest American porters.

Draught at the taphouse at Denver Airport. Black - white head. Burned, licorice, berries, lactic, high malty, dryness, light coffee. Lovely precise...... a few days later: Draught at Boulder Beer. (Nitro). Clear dark-dark brown - brown head. Lactose, berries, roasted, licorice, dryness, weak, light chocolate... (6/3/6/3/13).

(Bottle). Sweet, slightly roasty aroma. Dark brown body, small head. Taste is thin, mild, a touch sweet, some fruitiness. Unimpressive finish.

12 ounce bottle, pours a deep brown with a short lasting creamy head. iIce coffee taste at the first sip but the taste that lingers in your mouth is the roasted malt, almost bordering on burt. Would not buy again

Bottle. Nice dark porter with a smooth start. Gets a bit harsh at the finish, I think the roast coffee flavor is a bit strong at the end. Still a good beer though.

Draught. Low but lasting off-white head. Pitch black body.Rather barl malt aroma than the expected coffee aroma. Very mild roasted malt coffee flavor with little hops bitternes. Low carbonation. Short aftertaste.

On tap at the Denver airport (and incidentally my second beer of the GABF trip, and the last that I will keep count of). Dark brown, mostly chocolate aroma, a little roast. Chocolatey palate, a hint of fruit acids lighten the palate a little. Nice.

Bonus from Irishboy, pours deep brown with a halo of a cream colored head. Sweet and chocolate malt nose and flavor. A bit chalky. A touch of dark fruit and molasses.
