Commercial Description:
Named after California's oldest state park, Big Basin Redwoods, this brown ale gets it's color from both brown and chocolate malts, which dominate the beer's malty backbone, while just the right amount of hops are added for a mild bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a moderate tan head. Aroma is a bit of roasted malt, hint of hops, and some malt. Flavor is quite roasty, with a hint of chocolate, moving to a sweeter malt backbone and bit of bitter/sour finish. Pretty good. The bitter/sour finish is a little off to my tastes, but seems to be caused by the unusual level of roastiness for a brown ale, which in other respects I like.
