Commercial Description:
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel, after fermentation on cherries, was separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels, where is aged for varying lengths of time, in some cases as long as a year. Selected barrels were then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

Bottled at FoBAB. Poured near black with a well-retained, creamy cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates and candi sugar upfront with plenty of roast to it.. cherries came through toward the back with a candy-like impression. The flavor found roasty black malts at the core that threw me off (much more stout-like than quad-like).. darker fruits and aged caramel gave a better quad feel as it warmed up.. bourbon, vanilla, dark spice, and toasted oak on the warm finish. Medium-bodied and warm on the palate with OK balance and feel.. not a good example of the style, but it was enjoyable to drink.

Bottle number 01282 thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with a huge, creamy, off-white head and a hazy deep brown body. Aroma of bourbon, plums, cherries, maybe a hint of brett, vanilla and oak. Taste is bourbon, toffee, candi fruits, cherry and plums. Syrupy mouthfeel and lively-ish carbonation. Very good beer!
