Commercial Description:
Based loosely on the Smokestack Series Sixth Glass, this abbey-style quadrupel, after fermentation on cherries, was separated into a number of oak bourbon barrels, where is aged for varying lengths of time, in some cases as long as a year. Selected barrels were then blended for optimum flavor. The resulting beer retains only very subtle cherry characteristics, with toffee and vanilla notes coming to the fore.

Bottle shared by beastiefan2k. Bottle 2413/10630. Deep amber brown beer. Aroma is soft and rich with a fairly prominent bourbon character. Earthy and caramelly with a touch of rich raisiny sweetness, light bourbon and a touch of vanilla and caramel as well. Brown sugar and a nice chewy sweetness. I don’t find it nearly as spicy as I’d prefer it to be. It’s rich and tasty, but the malts seem a bit one-dimensional. I think it could use a bit more age on it.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma and flavor are rich and straight-forward blasts of buttery caramel and bourbon. I’m talking about the straight-up caramel flavor that I got when I popped one of those Brach’s Milk Maid Caramel Squares into my mouth as a kid. The bourbon is a little more subdued, but an added bonus as I love me some sourmash whiskey. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Very caramelly finish. World class caramel malt bomb. Big-time thanks go out to csbosox for sharing the bottle!

750 ml bottle enjoyed on NYE 08. Poured a red brown with a creamy off white head. Nose surprisingly of cherries, malts, toffee and caramel. Upon looking at the bottle I realized it was aged on cherries, ah so that’s where it is coming from. Smooth bourbon is doughly and balanced well with dark fruits and cherries. Really tasty beer.

FOBAB 08’. Poured a hazy brown into the glass. Aroma was slightly tart, soapy with some caramel. Taste was dry cherry, wierd sweetness, grain and an odd finish. Huh, I was looking forward to this and I really didn’t enjoy this one. I guess crosling and I are the only ones that agree here. Oh well.

Shared on xmas day with friends and family from Boston, Kansas City, and D.C. Poured a deep mahogany color with a dense cream head. Aroma was especially pleasing with malt cocoa, a hint of grain, and a hint of cherry. Taste was smooth with a touch of cherry and bourbon residual taste. Absolutely loved it and have purchased a case from my favorite liquor store.

Amber appearance with a soft, cream colored foam. Carbonation visibly escaping through the beer. Aroma of vanilla and cherry. Vanilla, bourbon and cherry reappear in the flavor along with some alcohol. A very, very smooth and creamy palate. I’m really enjoying these Limited Release Smokestack Series.

Bottle shared by Eugene. Pickle-like aroma is surprising, yeasty and cherry with a touch of oak. No bourbon to be found. Rich flavor is more quad-like than the aroma, with bready yeasty highlights and a sweet, malty finish. Belgian derived for sure, with a noticeable cherry presence. Pretty interesting stuff.

Bottle #7905 Dark brown with a thick lasting off white head. Lots of bourbon and brown sugar in the nose. Flavor is sweet malt, brown sugar, ripe fruits and bourbon. Not much of the quad left, but very good.
