ABV is VERY well hidden. Scary to think... Mellow overall with some toffee, maybe a bit of butterscotch, and vanilla on the tongue and aftertaste. If you search for it you get a little sour hit in the corners of your mouth from the cherry. Well put together! blaheath (16), Missouri, USA

Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma and flavor are rich and straight-forward blasts of buttery caramel and bourbon. I’m talking about the straight-up caramel flavor that I got when I popped one of those Brach’s Milk Maid Caramel Squares into my mouth as a kid. The bourbon is a little more subdued, but an added bonus as I love me some sourmash whiskey. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and tingly carbonation. Very caramelly finish. World class caramel malt bomb. Big-time thanks go out to csbosox for sharing the bottle! bearlybrewed (34), Colorado, USA

Poured a deep mahogany color with a dense cream head. Aroma was especially pleasing with malt cocoa, a hint of grain, and a hint of cherry. Taste was smooth with a touch of cherry and bourbon residual taste. Absolutely loved it and have purchased a case from my favorite liquor store. MONZA (18), Kansas, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Dec 25, 2008 Wow. Congrats to Steven Pauwels (brewmaster) on this one. Poured from 750 bomber into Trappist tulip glass. Leathery brown, medium head with heavy lacing. Woody, with a hint of cherry. Very malty, with low hop finish and character. Some Belgian funk, although I would expect more fruityness from the yeast on this style. Mild alcohol heat, especially considering the nearly 12% alcohol content. Dangerously easy to drink. Im going to buy a few extras to age for a special occasion. This one should age nicely! Pawola22 (783), Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Pours a hazed, muddy brown colored body with an amber-red tint. Thin, quickly dissipating and surprisingly creamy, light tan head that leaves some whispy lacing on the surface and a delicate, creamy ring on the glass. Upon uncorking this, lots of bourbon shot out of the bottle, but after pouring this into a glass, the bourbon just became one of many aromas. Slightly tart cherries with a sweeter toffee, moderate caramel taking the forefront. A smooth, subtle vanilla and oak, overriple plums, and some earth balance this out nicely. Everything really blends together for a very pleasant aroma. The flavor is outstanding. Starts with a mellow toffee sweetness before a blend of sweet vanilla, oak, and slightly tart cherries come in. A good amount of earth and more oaky bourbon come out towards the end. Finishes with a little more sweetness and an almost brown sugar taste that is somewhat syrupy, but not cloying. Ends rich and malty with a hint of tartness before a slightly dry oak takes this home. A bit of an alcohol warmth gives off the only real trace of this being 11.8%. Medium length aftertaste after a slightly syrupy, medium body. Overall, this really lived up to the hype. It was very impressive. The flavor is so complex and everything blends extraordinarily well together. The bourbon is really subtle and never allows the vanilla-oak to take away from the other aspects of the beer. Its nice to see a barrel aged beer like that. I’m glad I snatched up two of these this year. Wow...I loved this. royalliquors (11), Kansas City, Missouri, USA

It has a small, off-white head. The lacing is fair. Cloudy, amber body. Its toasty and a little musty. It has cask, wood, and a little smoke. The alcohol is clearly present, but not necessarily offensive. Set one aside for a couple of years. grant (792), Colorado Springs, CO, Colorado, USA
