12oz bottle. Pours a deep abiding brown/black that dares not let any light pass through. Aroma is faint but allows some earthy roasted grain and floral hops with a hint of citrus. The earthy toasty grains dominate the flavor as they ought to with a porter. Good stuff happens behind that too with some nice floral hops and just enough malt to keep this beer from being way dry. Medium palate with grainy-dry aftertaste. Pretty nice stuff.

In the glass it looks black as can be. During the pour it looked lighter than that with some reddish tones. Decent inch of head on the pour. Recedes to a thin layer of froth. Smell is dark roasted malts and some chocolate. Much more of the cocoa flavors in the taste. Near perfect amount of hops in the flavor as well. I picked up a mixed 12 pack of Boulevard beers while I was travelling. The other 5 beers in the offering all were not good. This is a saving grace for the brewery, easily, without a doubt the best of the bunch. Easy drinking and smooth. Solid.

Poured from 12oz bottle. Dark reddish brown in color with big, lacy, tan head. Excellent lacing on the glass. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, coffee and somewhat floral. Tastes of dark roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied, nicely carbonated with a dry finish. Very drinkable. A nice take on the style.

12 oz bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with large beige head. The aroma is some sweet caramel and raisin, roasted grain, and a little bit of nuttiness. Flavor is bitter chocolate, walnut, and a distant coffee note. Nice ashy bitterness in the finish with some earthy noble hops. Very drinkable.

Tastes almost more stout than the Boulevard Dry Stout. Chocolaty, burnt with a thick alcoholic aftertaste. Pretty decent.

Pours a nice dark coffee color out of the bottle with a fizzy chocolate-milk colored head. It has a strong chocolate smell with some coffee. Taste is light on the roast and has a nice sweetness with some bitter tones. It has a little thickness too it and a good amount of carbonation. Overall, for the price, this is a fantastic porter.

Bottle. Rich reddish brown, attractive mocha froth. Smells of nutty/toasty malts, with suggestions of woodsmoke and coffee. Bittersweet, roasty flavor... maybe a hint of baking spice and dried fruits? Although far from being a hefty ale, there is an attractive depth to the roasted malts. A definite pithy lime or bitter grapefruit quality. Rusty finish, sharp espresso aftertaste. Over time, becomes more metallic in aroma/flavor. Light palate, slightly overcarbed. An ambiguous “session” porter.
