Apr 1, 2008 Very nice. Solid brown pour with a rapidly receding small head. Taste shows little alcohol and some hoppiness at the end. Overall roasty malt taste.

Mar 30, 2008 Not generally a huge Boulevard fan, but this is a really solid porter. Pours a very dark reddish brown with a nice brown head. Roasty aroma and a smooth coffee malt flavor. A dry roasted finish. Good beer.

Mar 29, 2008 12oz brown bottle. Bottle conditioned. Served in a shaker pint. Poured a deep dark brown with about 2 fingers of tan head. Chocolate in the aroma, some hops. A slight sourness in the aroma. Lots of chocolate and coffee malt in the flavor. Solid hop bitterness, also fairly intense roasted malt bitterness. Very long, dry malt finish. This is a pretty robust porter that borders on stout flavor.

Mar 26, 2008 This beer was a bit of a surprise. Poured very dark brown. The head was fairly thick, lasted and left a great lacing behind on the glass. The aroma is of roast malt with a hint of chocolate. The flavor follows the aroma very well, heavy flavor of roasted malts, slightly chocolate and finishes with a slight alcohol bite. Overall this is a good example of what porters should be like.

Mar 25, 2008 black pour with a 2 finger light brown head. chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. good thickness and geez those roasted malts are definitely there with a hint of chocolate at the end.

Mar 24, 2008 Bottle/Tap. Great beer. Nice smoked porter. Nice dark red pour with decent head. Aroma is full of smoked malts with nice subtle chocolate. Clean dry finish.

Mar 21, 2008 Updated: Mar 22, 2008After my second six-pack (bottles) of this stuff, I realized it wasn’t bitter or thick at all but actually thin and very SALTY. Try comparing the aroma to soy sauce and see if you’re disillusioned too. I can’t drink this any more -- it is very overrated!
The same seems to be true of their Irish ale. I haven’t noticed this about other dark beers, before or after.
