Commercial Description:
A dry, medium-bodied dark ale. Its intense dark-roasted barley malt flavor is perfectly balanced by complex hop character.

Pours out a nice black color with a nice tan head. Aroma is sweet and full of roasted malts. Flavor was not so great at first, but as it warmed it was much better. The finish is very dry and i had to force my self not to guld this brew.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Trevor @ BCTC 2007. Thanks! Pours a dark cola color; light brown head with good retention. Milk chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: milk chocolate, roasted malts, and dry cocoa; well-roasted and chocolaty. Medium, roasted and chocolate-laden finish.

Robe noire surmontée d’une mousse beige qui persiste. Arômes de levures et de café. Saveurs de houblon amérisant terreux et de malt torréfié.

Yummy beer on tap, much hoppier also. To be fair, I rated this in bottle. Pours with a light head of moderate foaminess. Smells of roasted grain. Okay, okay standard stuff. Taste follows suit, not as much hoppiness. Good, but not great.

Pours almost black with very little head. Great roasted malt, smoke and hop flavors with caramel notes. Enjoyable beer to drink.

Courtesy of boboski, yet again. Pours a beguling combination of browns and blacks, head seems to vanish almost if on cue. Smoke. For some reason, hanging out with the roasted aromas, is an apparent smokey charecter, very nice. Flavor is a continuence of the aroma, mildly sweet, roasted, some hoppy bitterness and the darn smoke. Impressive.

Tan head is mostly diminishing. The body is a semi-translucent blend of colors of teak, crimson and caramel. I love the color of the body. The aroma is very appetizing, with bold notes of roasted malt, caramel, moderate to medium-heavy smoke, earthiness, toffee, light coffee. An awesome wintery nose. Sweet fruit notes and fig lie underneath, along with subtle hopiiness. The flavor is lightly sweet, mildly to moderately bitter, mildly acidic, with slight hints of very lightly tart malts. Smoke is very beefy and a touch acrid. Finishes smoky, lightly bitter and incredibly lengthy. Mouthfeel is boisterously carbonated, medium bodied and slightly sticky, slightly charred. Very, very well done.
