Commercial Description:
A dry, medium-bodied dark ale. Its intense dark-roasted barley malt flavor is perfectly balanced by complex hop character.

Pours black, near opaque with a dense and creamy khaki head. Thick sheeting lace on the glass. Sweet creamy dark malt and even some light citrusy hops in the aroma. Tastes if roasty dark malt. Milky coffee flavors. Finishes bitter. Mouth is lighter than you would expect and it’s not very complex but does what it does well. Tasty, roasty porter that would be a great session brew.

2/17/7. Beer is nearly opaque, very dark, spent motor oil brown. The head is initially small, frothy, tan and mostly lasting.
The aroma is malty with moderate-to-heavy note of roasted grain, light-to-moderate notes of chocolate, coffee, molasses; Hoppy with moderate-to-heavy notes of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light note of dough; Trace of cola, oak.
The flavor is heavily bitter, lightly sweet, lightly-to-moderately acidic with a long, lightly bittersweet, lightly acidic finish.
The body is medium-to-fulll, the texture is watery-to-velvety and the carbonation is softer than average.

Pours a nice deep brown, a little ruddy, with a thick head of brown foam. Excellent lacing throughout the glass. There is a subtle mocha java aroma. Fantastic bittersweet choclate malt flavor, very full and flavorful. Behind that is a mild cherry-like fruitiness, fresh roasted coffee, and an almost herbal hop bitterness. The finish is dry chocolate with a hint of cinnamon. Nearly full bodied, very smooth, and gently carbonated.

12 ounce bottle brought to me by Grant from Kansas. Thanks. Sweet, mocha chocolate-coffee aroma present with some grapefruity C-hops present in the nose. Seems a little green and a bit too hoppy of an aroma for the porters that I tend to like. Moslty transparent mahogany colored body with a large, frothy, pillowy, tan head. Nice lacing, too. Light grainy, chocolate, crystal-malty start followed Toasty-roastiness in the middle. Slight burnt popcorn bitterness to finish. Good stuff.

12oz bottle acquired in trade. Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized light tan head. Aromas of roast, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Tastes of chocolate, roast, with a light coffee finish. Body a tad thin for a porter.

Pours a deep brown/black with a huge head. Head turns rocky, is slow to dissipate, and leaves medium to heavy lace. Aroma is dark roasted malts, coffee, chocolate malts and bitter hops. Taste is sweet with roasted/burnt malts and chocolate. Heavy body. Fairly creamy texture. Long roasted malt finish. The one porter to get if you’re stuck in South Dakota.
