Jan 12, 2007 12 ounce bottle brought to me by Grant from Kansas. Thanks. Sweet, mocha chocolate-coffee aroma present with some grapefruity C-hops present in the nose. Seems a little green and a bit too hoppy of an aroma for the porters that I tend to like. Moslty transparent mahogany colored body with a large, frothy, pillowy, tan head. Nice lacing, too. Light grainy, chocolate, crystal-malty start followed Toasty-roastiness in the middle. Slight burnt popcorn bitterness to finish. Good stuff.

Jan 6, 2007 12oz bottle acquired in trade. Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized light tan head. Aromas of roast, coffee, chocolate and nuts. Tastes of chocolate, roast, with a light coffee finish. Body a tad thin for a porter.

Jan 4, 2007 Overall good porter. Has a nutty, coffee and chocalate flavor. Dark brown in color and nice texture.

Dec 30, 2006 Pours a deep brown/black with a huge head. Head turns rocky, is slow to dissipate, and leaves medium to heavy lace. Aroma is dark roasted malts, coffee, chocolate malts and bitter hops. Taste is sweet with roasted/burnt malts and chocolate. Heavy body. Fairly creamy texture. Long roasted malt finish. The one porter to get if you’re stuck in South Dakota.

Dec 29, 2006 12 oz. bottle from Secret Santa. Chocolate malt aroma along with some smoke aroma as well. Black body with tan head. Good roasty and chocolate flavor. Smooth not over sweet porter good job.

Dec 16, 2006 Updated: Jan 5, 2007Wow, what an attractive beer! Opaque body, with an incredible head. Nice lacing, too! Malt, and sublte dried fruit aroma. Semi-sweet chocolate/malt initial flavor, with dark chocolate, coffee, roasted nut, and mild smoke flavors developing in the end. Pleasant, somewhat citrusy aftertaste. Good carbonation. I really enjoyed this porter, and I hope you do, too!

Dec 10, 2006 This beer poured the dictionary definition of ’head’...a moderately aggressive pour yielded a mountainous tan head that was unyielding. Jet black brew goes down very smoothly with a very enjoyable flavor that actually carries a nice citrus taste combined with a nutty overtone. Definitely a beer to sip and savor rather than for a night that you’re looking to toss back a dozen
