Commercial Description:
A dry, medium-bodied dark ale. Its intense dark-roasted barley malt flavor is perfectly balanced by complex hop character.

via trade with Beerdrenched - Pours a dark brown color with a big tan head. Nice lacing left as the head settles. Has a roasted malt aroma and flavor. A smooth, some what dry, medium body beer. Nice. Thanks Eric.

Nice. It pours a dark, dark brown with a well retained, creamy tan head, thick and good lacing. The aroma is full of roasted barley, coffee, a touch of chocolate, and a hint of anise. Medium bodied, it’s full of rich roasted flavors, lightly sweet, having a nutty bitterness and a dry finish. It’s beers like this that raise the question of the difference between a porter and a stout.

On tap at tapwerks. Perhaps it was the tap, but I was really not that impressed by this beer. Almost no smell whatsoever. Taste was extremely thin and watery, like a light beer that somone tried to spike with dark malts. None of the robust/molasses flavors common to the style. Head was almost non-existent. I will re-rate if I ever try it out of the bottle.

12-oz. bottle from tjthresh. Pours opaque with a frothy tan head, somewhat lasting, lined lacing. Aroma is dark chocolate and coffee malt, pine and floral hop, faint leathery yeast. Mildly sweet, moderately bitter, medium acidity, hoppy pine flavor, coffee grind finish with cocoa and chalky toasted malt. Dark bodied and fizzy-foamy palate.

An excellent color and aroma. A little warm, but really quite an agreeable porter. Not too sweet or heavy, has a little chocolate and much better than their dry stout.

Pours dark brown with a big tan head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. Heavy roasted malt flavor upfront with a nice hop flavor in the backend. The bitterness is from the roasted barley not from the hops.

Bottle from Hy-Vee Liquors poured into english pint - Pours BLACK with a 4 finger dark beige head that takes a while to go down and leaves some nice lace; Malt, lots of chocolate, some roast, espresso, and caramel to the nose; I could smell this all day! A complex initial taste with some hops, coffee, caramel, and a good bit of malt; A roasty, but mainly hoppy backtaste; It’s Boulevard, so you’ve got to expect a quality beer. My first porter and I really enjoyed it! Very smooth and drinkable.
