Almost opaque dark ruby, good firm creamy expresso head. Juicy hoppy aroma with roasted notes. Medium-bodied, chocolaty roasted, decently hoppy. As expected, not alcoholic, more "session porter-like". Roasted malty aftertaste. Balanced tasty porter. TheBeerGod (3169), Newport News, Virginia, USA

Nose is strong roasted malts, burnt cookie, and coffee notes. Taste is strong roasted malts, light smoldering wood, coffee and dark chocolate. Bit of piney hops in the background as well. Body has some lingering bitterness. Medium-full feel and an almost creamy carbonation. Finishes with a bigger dark chocolate flavor, light coffee, and burnt, roasted malts. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2006 Pours black and completely opaque. Huge tan head that yields heavy lacing as you work your way through the glass. The taste starts out with a charred wood and bitter chocolate bite and yields to sweet malt influence iand then finishes wih a dry hops lemon flavor. Overall a fine brew. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 19/20 | Mar 24, 2006 Aroma is strikingly that of a pale ale - slightly hoppy fruity lemons. Big, rocky head sits upon a dark crimson body. Flavor is a potpourri - sometimes lots of charred malt, bitter chocolate and an IPA like hoppiness that lingers. This beer is fantastic - thanks James! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2006 (On tap) Black and completely opaque beer with a creamy, beige head leaving some neat laces. Fat, rich, malty nose. Medium body with plenty of hard roasted - but not burnt - malt. Notes of chocolate and a dry, pleasant but not overwhelmingly bitter finish. A great, light porter. 210306 Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 14, 2006 12 oz bottle. Honestly I don’t smell much but clean hops. Pours a very dark body with a creme colored head. The taste is, however, very distinct. It starts with a hoppy kick tasting of nuts, smoke and grain. It ends with a smooth, smokey, dry and pleasant taste. SuIIy (1484), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 9, 2006 12oz from eboats. Pours a dark frown with a big fluffy light beige head. Leaves some light lacing. Nose is light sweet chocolate and some faint dark fruits. Flavors of dry chocolate, light malted chocolate and a dry bitter finish. Seems like some coffee was left to burn a little bit. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

Dark brown with light tan head, fades to creamy film/ring over time. Coats the glass just slightly. Decent aroma although somewhat muted. Chocolate up front, some faint dark fruit, with coffee in the background. Flavor much the same, mostlty chocolate, fades to a more pronounced coffee. Finishes with dry bitter coffee.
