Jun 14, 2005 The aroma of this beer is fantastic. Rich chocolate, roasted coffee, and playful fruits. A nice mix of chocolate, coffee and hoppy fruitiness. A solid all around porter.

Jun 8, 2005 Nice porter. One of the best domestic versions I’ve had, maybe the best. Caramel, chocolate, roast coffee flavors, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Good stuff.

May 29, 2005 This guy surprised me, its a damn good porter, malty, with a hint of hops. Nice coloring and lacing on the glass. And the price was right, all and all worthy of another go round.

May 20, 2005 Aroma of earthy leather, caramel and chocolate. Dark brown with some light showing through the edges and a small light tan head. Roasty coffy flavor wit ha quick chocolate and barley finish. Slightly metallic. Medium body, texture is on the creamy side of watery and nice soft carbination. Thanks to doppelganger for the bottle.

May 19, 2005 Expecting a porter, I got something almost liken a IPA, except dark, so more like an IDA. The bottle conditioning has got to be what makes this porter stand ou in the crowd. Being from St. Louis, I had low expectations for this Kansas City brew. Nice coffee roast with high carbonation and great hoppy finish. Great everday kind of beer. Thumbs up.

May 17, 2005 12 fl. oz brown bottle from heemer77. Dark red brown pour, smallish tan head. Light roasty aroma, sweet malts, a dash of chocolate. Dark and bitter malts in the mouth, some hop bitterness with a little floral note as well. Dryish finish with a lot of roasted malt. Very drinkable.

May 10, 2005 Pours so very dark brown with a thick creamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, fruit and very slight coffee/chocolate scent. Flavor is rather sweet. Starts with a fruity taste mixed with caramel that gives way to roased malt and slight hops. Altogether, a nice product.

May 8, 2005 Bottle courtesy of csbosox: Deep, dark brown with ruby highlights when held to light. Has a small, thick, creamy tan head. Nice aroma - lots of roasted malt, roasty chocolate, mild coffee, mild hops, and a hint of sweet fruit. Medium-lively carbonation, full mouthfeel, coats the tongue and teeth. Taste is sweet then bitter roasted malt, burnt chocolate, mild coffee, a hint of bread, and a little bit of floral/pine hops flavors. Finishes with bitter roasted malt and chalk, then gets sweet later on with notes of roasted malt and fruity hops. I like the little bit of extra hops in this - nicely balanced with the roasted malt.
