Commercial Description:
A dry, medium-bodied dark ale. Its intense dark-roasted barley malt flavor is perfectly balanced by complex hop character.

aroma is oaty and tobacco. flavor is dark malt, roasted grains and some cocoa. aftertaste is unbalanced on the palette though. judging from the other reviews though, i might have just gotten a bad bottle? im not a huge porter fan anyway, so take this review with the bias it has.

. Aroma of roasted malts, some nuts. Taste, malty, roast, light smoke and light chocolate with thin nutty mouthfeel. Fine brew, light abv but really complex body.

12oz shorty bottle. Ruby red-black color. Deep roasty aroma, some coffee. The taste is rich, lots of dry roasty, mossy characteristics. Lots of stout-like characteristics, but maybe some lighter smoky qualities keep it in Portery. Very well done, I’m quite impressed with this one. Certainly above par for a US porter. Recommended.

Bottle, courtesy sebletitje. Brownish blackish red pour, fluffy head and wet lacing. Spicy nose, vanilla and a nice vegetal note, some bitter coffee. Some roasted flavors, dry coffee, chocolate, bitter. Drinkable and yum.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark black color with a huge tan frothy head that leaves great lacing on the side of the glass. It has some mahogany tints around the edges of the glass also. The aroma is pretty bland with a lot of roasted malt and a somewhat strange floral scent. The taste is a nice mix of roasted malt and cocoa with a lingering hop character. Has a medium bodied mouth feel and leaves a nice bitter taste in the back of your mouth after drinking. Overall a very solid porter.

The website says that this is an interpretation of classic British porter, which I take to be Brown porter, so that is what I will rate this against. Aroma- roated malt, floral hoppiness. Toffee notes. Medium aroma. Appearance- Brown, with ruby highlights as the glass gets thinner. Medium sized bubbles make a head of minor strength, but it sticks around. Flavor- Roasted Malt flavor dominates. Very little sweetness low ester profile. Carbonation gives it a little tartness. Palate- very well attenuated, with a medium to moderate fullness of body. Medium dryness at the end from carbonation and hops. Overall Impression- The roasty flavor dominates but it never tastes burnt. Not too bitter, very nicely balanced. It is well attenuated, but doesn’t taste empty.

12 oz bottle. Pour is hazed brown ruby with a big thick three inch tan head. Head falls slowly with spidery lacing. Aroma of soft roastiness, nice slight charred maltiness behind that. Some pine hops, though they are certainly in the back. Taste is roasty malty goodness, along with a welcome bright hop bitterness to the finish. Also a reach nice grassy, tabacco earthiness as it warms. The malt is quite smooth, with the roast perfectly accenting. Palate is medium, decent amount of carbonation and has a clean, dry, brief finish. Really smooth and drinkable porter. (7,4,8,4,16 - 3.9)

Big roast smell and taste. Looks great out of the bottle, drinks well all the way through. My personal fav from Boulevard. (7,5,8,4,15 - 3.9)

~Pours a dark reddish brown with big foamy brown head. Lasting head with good lacing. ~Sweet scent of roasted chocolate malts and light coffee. Hop is in there as well if you sniff real hard. ~Roasted, bitter, chocolate malt flavor with mild pine hop taste. ~Thin and dry. Almost feels like it turns to dust before it hits your throat. Bitter roasted malt finish. ~Pretty good porter.
