Commercial Description:
Double-Wide I.P.A. uses Columbus and Magnum hops for both bittering and aroma with Chinook hops added in the whirlpool. It is dry hopped with generous amounts of Cascade, Bravo, Centennial, and Chinook hops. The resulting beer has a hop forward aroma, redolent of peach and apricot. The assertive flavor bursts with the citrus qualities of blood orange and lemon with a slight caramel malt backbone to balance the intense hop flavor. There is little restraint in the flavor of this beer; it is certainly not for the pedestrian palate.

Pour was medium dark with a thick head. Very hoppy aroma with a little bit of herb. Has a sweet malty finish. Alcohol is well hidden with a medium body.

Hazy, deep red-amber with a giant, pillowy light tan head. Rich piney, grapefruit centric aroma with a touch of underlying caramel and toffee base. Flavor starts mildly bitter and moderately sweet, and quickly turns moderately-to-highly bitter, carrying through to the finish. Clean, slightly alcoholic finish, slightly medicinal. A bit one-dimensional, but delivers what it promises for an IPA. A nice touch of summer, enjoyed during a nasty December ice storm in Illinois.

VRBT. Medium amber. Biscuit malts and pine hop flavors. Aroma and taste were identical. Nice. Just not a lot to say here. Surprised at how many different hops were used considering I found it to be a bit of a one note IPA. But it was an enjoyable note.

Bottle. Pours an amber orange color with plenty of head. Smells very sweet and hoppy. Smooth on the palate with a sweet hop bitter finish. Great IPA.

Reviewed 12/14/2008 (bottle batch#D8240): Pours a reddish brown color body..Big creamy head, lasting, okay lacing. Piney, hoppy aroma. Bitter pungent nose with some sickly sweetness. Balanced taste, some grapefruity taste. Watery body, some carbonation. Not a strong flavor. More aroma than taste.

Sample at December 12, 2008 Beer Club meeting. Solid, no-see-through orange color. Nice head. Double IPA hop aroma did not let me down... Great flavor, good for the style. No unpleasant aftertaste, smooth finish. Extremely well done! I highly suggest anyone pick up a bottle of this if you see it on the shelf.

Was excited to find this in Nashville last go around. Smooth and mild IPA with a grassy, piney, citrusy hop aroma. Pours a pretty good looking reddish brown. Slightly sweet caramel flavor. Malt hits the palate on first sip but it fades into a bitter citrus and grapefruit hop finish.
