| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 27, 2008 25 oz bottle. Pours a nice deep copper body with a big craggy frothy off white head that had excellent retention. The nose is more sweet caramel malt than it is hoppy, and that’s not a good sign of an IPA to me. Lots of stale iced tea crystal malt, then lighter floral hops. There’s plenty of bitterness to stand up to the crystal malt up front, but it loses out on the back end. Finishes with a light resiny note and grainy crystal malt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, fairly creamy, with moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, this just wasn’t the kind of IPA that gets me going. I want hops and more hops, not hopped stale iced tea. WeeHeavySD (3000), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA

Pours dark orange with a foamy tan head. Nice citrus nose that I got from the moment I popped the cork. Taste is very nice with lots of citrus and a lot of bite. This is great midwest IPA that lives up to West Coast Standards. beerbuzzmontreal (2911), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Nice aroma of fruity and resinous hops. Good flavor of resinous, fruity hops, with toasted malt and bitterness in the end. The body is medium with a liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 22, 2008 Corked and caged 750ml. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a one finger light tan head. Nose is floral and citrus hops and caramel malt. Taste is sweet upfront with apricots, caramel and ripe citrus with a nice resin aftertaste in the finish. Medium mouth feel. This is better than I thought it would be and the novelty of a cork and caged IPA is different. Nice and hoppy for a single IPA. Decent brew. travita (1926), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 22, 2008 Amber color with a big head. Nice look. Citrus hops in the taste with medium bitterness. Nice smell of citrus, pine, down to earth feel. Good aftertaste. SDalkoholic (1196), Chula Vista, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 21, 2008 Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Pours with a giant serving of white pillow of foaming while the ale is a muddy amber color. The aroma is a bready malt nose with a dosage of British styled hop variation. I taste a rye bready flavor as well as a honey oat or sweet wheat that really is different that I am accustomed too but again there is a English hop background that balances this beer out real smoothly . | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 18, 2008 Pours a tannish garnet with orange highlights, and an off-white head that lasts forever. Aroma is very citrusy and flowery, but not too extreme on the hops. A bit tropical, and doesn’t give much way to the maltiness of the flavor. The beer tastes pretty well balanced between the brown sugar and caramel malts, and the flowery tropical fruit-like hop flavor. Finishes slightly toasty with a bitter grapefruit flavor and a slight lingering caramel aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium, fairly highly carbonated and creamy. Pretty good, and I admire the restrained IBUs.
