Flavor is much the same with some thinner characteristics. Drinkable none the less. skeils (7), , Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Beautiful copper dark orange pour, nice murky, rich look with sizable attractive head. Hop aroma grabs your attention. Strong hops flavor hits pretty hard at first then smooths out as it warms. My favorite smokestack. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Beautiful reddish copper hue with a big, rocky cap of foam. The hop aroma is fairly subdued for an IIPA, as is the hop flavor. The bitterness sufficient and is held in check by the solid amount of malt, unfortunately, it just doesn’t leave a memorable impression. kuphish (161), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 6, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours a murky, deep copper body with a pitted, creamy, off-white/light tan head. Big, sticky, resinous, miscellaneous hop aroma...somewhat muddled, but reminiscent of citrus and tropical fruit. Caramel malt underneath the hop aroma. Flavor is full of bit time goopy caramel malt. Hops comes through as grapefruit and orange. Some breadiness from the yeast. Full bodied. Cleaner and less resinous/sticky than anticipated. Average carbonation. Fairly crisp, bitter finish with hop and yeast lingering around for a while. Overall quite good, but muddy and seeking an identity. Need to try a fresher bottle to see if the flavors come through crisper. EithCubes (2171), Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 6, 2009 Corked and caged bottle via kuphish. Cloudy dark copper pour with a lacy beige head. Nose is huge caramel but it’s the smooth, not rough way. Bit of booze showing through green leafy hops and dry, light sourness-tinged caramel and toffee, light dark earthiness. Warms the chest. Some weird things and going on with the yeast here, and hops are a mite faded. Love the green citric acid. Medium slick body and a kind of perfumed aromatics from the dry-hopping. A little different, but still nice! GranvilleTim (522), Granville, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Shared with my brother. A nice dark orange pour with an off-white super head. Aromas came up at me during the pour. Fruity hops and sweet malt. The first taste hit my senses quick- hops was piny, the malts were sweet, a nice mixture of other flavors . Left a nice lacing on the glass. Next time, I’ll bring it home first or leave it in the car. I wanted more for myself. petematte46 (227), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 1/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 31, 2009 I love everything I’ve tried from this brewery so far, and this was no different. Pours dark orangy brown, thick head. Nose was hops and pine, with some caramel sugary backdrop. Flavor lived up to aroma... Nice bite, hops were nice and green, good crystal malt underneath. Very enjoyable. Hops were not overpowering.
