Commercial Description:
Double-Wide I.P.A. uses Columbus and Magnum hops for both bittering and aroma with Chinook hops added in the whirlpool. It is dry hopped with generous amounts of Cascade, Bravo, Centennial, and Chinook hops. The resulting beer has a hop forward aroma, redolent of peach and apricot. The assertive flavor bursts with the citrus qualities of blood orange and lemon with a slight caramel malt backbone to balance the intense hop flavor. There is little restraint in the flavor of this beer; it is certainly not for the pedestrian palate.

Batch 09135. Excellent pour with a hazy, reddish-copper color and a eggshell-colored, full, creamy, foamy head which is mostly lasting and leaves exceptional drippy lace rings. The nose is standard for a great IIPA with lots of resins, slightly piney in nature, spicy notes of alcohol and hops, hints at floral hidden under the pine, lots of citrus (apricot and pink grapefruit), and just the slightest hints at cookies and buttered biscuits. Flavor is very good as well with a more definite caramel backbone and a moderately high bitterness; citrus hops are well layered but less dominate than I would have thought. Apricot is prominent with lighter pink grapefruit, lots of resinous pine, some floral, and lighter notes of buttery biscuits and sweet caramel. Palate is moderately full, velvety, soft to lively, warming a bit, but also slightly watery. Finish is a bit short with some floral lingering, pink grapefruit, resins, and some rustic notes on the tail end. The only big complaint is as the beer progressed, it became a bit watery and finished short. Not your run of the mill IIPA but certainly something I could not stop drinking. The warming notes only accentuate the intense hop notes. Hardly an IPA but a very good IIPA; Boulevard does some very good small batch beers.

Bottle. Poured copper cloudy with a huge soapy beige head. Aroma of big citrus hops and light toasted malt. Taste is also very hoppy, with a light malt sweetness, and a bready malt backing. Finish is nice and bitter. Mouth is average bodied and little sticky. Overall, a very nice IPA/IIPA. Boulevard is really making some nice brews.

Poured a cloudy orangish amber body with a nice two finger tight white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and more hops. Taste is of hops, malt, caramel, and some citrus. This medium to full bodied brew is fairly well balanced and quite drinkable.

750 ml bottle from By the Bottle. Pours copper with a thin white head and solid lacing. Aroma is all citrus hops: grapefruit, orange, light lemon and just the barest hint of a biscuit malt lurks. Flavor is a hop explosion, mostly orange and lemon with a more solid malt backing than you’d guess from the aroma. Solid beer, but not one of the better IIPAs I had on this long festival weekend.

Very malty with some faint hops. Multi grain bread and caramel predominantly. Amber body that sparkles, 1/2" light tan head and some great lacing. Malty, sweet and mildly bitter. Floral hops with a zesty quality. Bran cereal and toffee.
