pint_size (1004), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 12, 2008 2-11-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to the great Gregis!!
Appearance is perfect. Completely thick and cloudy ruby amber with a huge thick white head. Smell is sweet but mostly has nice fruity hops in there, however it is a bit subtle for me. Flavor is great - fruity hops throughout! Great palate as well - very drinkable and satisfying. It is smooth and almost creamy - not heavy but not light. Overall, I love this beer. Highly recommended!
ketchepillar (256), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Sep 7, 2008 Crazy head on this piece. I really enjoy the hop profile on this. It’s a bit faded, but then it’s just good malt sweetness w/ good hops. Nice finish. MMM very good hops. A little sticky perhaps. hillfiiiiire (170), Atoka, Tennessee, USA Sep 7, 2008 Golden amber color with bubbly white head. Aroma is kind of stale hops. Floral and citrus hops most notably. Not a horribly bitter flavor. Very well balanced with the malts. Finishes with a nice, dry bitter. All right beer. jimbowood (721), Athens, Georgia, USA Sep 6, 2008 bottle. No good. Drain pour. No hop presence or aroma. wouldn’t want this one ever again. fidelis83 (28), Clinton, Iowa, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours milky dark amber, with 2 finger chunky tan head that lasts and leaves some lacing. Aroma is floral and grassy hops, green walnuts, and wild flowers. Flavor is sweet grapefruit, light caramel malts, starfruit, a little alcohol in the tail end followed by bitter and citrus hops. Palate is medium thinckness and a little sticky. Ceebs25 (48), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 2, 2008 750 mL bottle. A fairly strong aroma, not overly potent though, good amount of floral and grassy hop, with a decently prominent red berry malt, nothing wrong here. Dark orange in color, mostly opaque and cloudy, very large pour with an off-cream color head, good staying power, ok lacing, again no complaints. An almost suprisingly sweet backbone throughout for a single ipa with melon fruit, bitter hop takes over in the finish though of more of the herbal/grassy variety than citrus in my opinion, lingering aftertaste is almost there for me, but not quite, pretty full body, pretty thick feel, (could have been a little lighter). In the end, I’m very happy with this beer (Boulevard is continuing to impress) and there were just a few nick-picky things i have complaints about, but not many.
