Commercial Description:
Boulevard Irish Ale, our springtime seasonal beer, is patterned after red ales that have a rich Irish heritage. Our recipe combines five kinds of malt to provide a complex, toasty flavor and reddish hue. Nugget and English Kent Golding hops are added to enhance the beer’s complexity and to produce a pleasing balance.

Bottled, thanks beerhandy! Nut brown. Aroma of cardamom & cinnamon. Roasty with light to medium body and soft mouthfeel. Below medium bitterness. A pleasant and well balanced very drinkable beer.

I’ve rated this beer high in one sense because it’s so true to the best of what I’ve seen from this style. Dark brown color with short head. Fierce carbonation and very liquid (not thin) body. Aroma is simple, straightforward malt, but the flavor ushers in more complex elements of mango syrup, lots of hops and cardamom seed. Very strong hop bitterness and fiery carbonation appear out of thin air on the palate. Compare this along with the perennial Harp product (an ok beer in its own right) and it’s an excellent introduction to the strongly-carbonated Irish style.

Thanks to mjames for sending this one! This Boulevard pours out a large off white head that slips into a dark amber beer. Mild malt aroma that is echoed in the flavor. Not a complex or heavily done beer, this is an easy drinking quaffable brew which doesn’t require any thought to enjoy.

Bready aroma: sweet brown sugar, caramel, and apple perfume. Rich looking, dark amber color with a thin ivory head. Mildly sweet malty flavor with some buttery cardboard, then just a hint of pine hops in the finish. Lively mouthfeel with a metallic finish. Thanks to Doppelganger for the bottle.

Bottle courtesy of csbosox: Amber with ruby highlights, tan head. Aroma is mildly malty with some hints of light fruit, caramel, and the barest of earthy/floral hops. Light to medium bodied, seems to be a bit too thin and watery. Taste is mild sweet malt (cereal, grain, caramel, cookie), a hint of earth, and a tiny bit of floral hops flavor.

Bottle from Cellars Minnetonka, MN. Mostly malty aroma with mild hop nose. Beautiful, dark, reddish amber with small, off-white head. Some lace. Roasted malt with enough hops to balance, although hops are certainly in the background. A solid brewpub beer and more flavorful than average for the style. In fact, I see that it is the 2nd highest rated beer in the style behind only Dublin 1798 Revolution Red. Creamy caramel notes come out about a quarter of the way in. A little higher in alcohol than the style calls for, but that is good, because as a fairly subtle sytle, the added strength helps it stand apart. This brew really improves as it warms. A pretty good brew.
