Surprisingly sweet-wheaty aroma. Tingly and hoppy, sweet and tarter than I expected ... almost like a heartier American wheat. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2005 (Bottle) Pours a dark amber-brown body with an average-sized off-white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, bread, and nuts. Flavor of toasted bread, caramel, and cream. Soft, creamy mouthfeel. kwoeltje (1326), Manchester, Missouri, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 6, 2005 (bottle) Deep copper with almost no head. Malty aroma. Flavor has hints of sweetness with a definite hops background. Seems to be less than the sum of its parts. CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 1, 2005 Pours a dark copper with ruby tints and a lightly-lacing, light tan head. Aroma has a nice crystal malty backbone with a hint of English hops. Starts with a nice toasty malty thick body, a touch of toffee, and a sticky caramel finish. A surely malty brew with enjoyable balance. Thanks to csbosox for this! JPDIPSO (4932), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 28, 2005 Dark copper color with a small lid of light tan bubbles. Aromas of earth, nuts, esters, dark (near burnt) caramel, and touch of rubbery hops. I’ve made this brew as a home-brew years ago. It was a brown ale that fermented out father than I wanted. Ended up thin and weak on the palate with flavors that did not seem to meld together, much like this brew. A light nut brown ale to me. eboats (897), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2005 Updated: Mar 1, 2005Poured amber with an off white head. The aroma was very pleasant: fruity hops, orange peel, and pineapple. The flavor was really a huge let down on this one. Definately tons of other beers I would rather drink. Had a watery body with only a slight mix of grassy/floral hops for flavor. Very dry finish which is good because you will get this down fast that way. darkstar (69), Eureka, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2005 Pours the color of a garnet stone. Lively bubbles with small head. No lacing. Lively in the mouth as well. Nice balance of malts and hops. Good beer for a style I don’t prefer. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA

Beautiful dark burgundy hue with a small, thin and wispy head of foam. Aroma screams of dry Irish Ale yeast, hints of herbs, flowers and citrus from the hops and a touch of fruit and caramel from the malt. Taste is mainly hop accented with a blend of citrusy, flowery, herbaceous varieties along with a toasted malt and caramel malt backbone. Dry and bitter.
