| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 27, 2008 750mL bottle. Pours a very hazy golden orange with a massive fluffy white head that stays as an inch-thick cap for the duration. The carbonation bubbling up from the bottom is huge.
The smell is very sweet with light fruit and candi sugar but there is definitely some citrus hops as well, especially lemons.
The taste is sweet but has a more dominant Belgian yeast backbone that maintains a bready character throughout. The lemons hit up front with some sugary sweetness in the middle. The finish has the slightest bitterness from the hops and some generous spices.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied with an exceptional amount of carbonation, possibly a tad too much. Overall, its very creamy but with lots of activity on the palate.
This is another very good beer from the Smokestack series and, so far, Im impressed with this series. Looking forward to trying the others. Syd (903), Waconia, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Bottle pours hazed copper yellow with a large pillow head and cobweb lace. The aroma is banana, yeast, and coriander. The flavor is malt, banana, clove, and some coriander. The palate is very lively and cleansing. Overall, a fine trip. valpoaj (363), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2008 Have sampled this many a time, but just getting around to rating this as I finally cracked open a 750. Pour is a fairly light colored brown, possibly better described as a very light mahogany with a robust white head that settles very slowly...nice stuff! Aroma is fruity (mixture of some citrus fruit and some darker fruits...a nice meld), along with some malt notes, a hint of spice and clove and some yeast. Flavor is full of fruit (orange, banana are notable), yeast, sweet malt and some spice, including some pepper. Heavy mouthfeel was a bit more than I was expecting, but not offensive. Good offering...especially given the price for this brew! JaBier (1261), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 21, 2008 750 mL bottle. Pours clear copper. Yeasty aroma with some malty sweetness and hop. Sugary and yeasty flavor with a little bit of alcohol in the finish. bellmyer (41), EAST MOLINE, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2008 750 bottle. Pour is cloudy gold with a big fluffy white head. Smell is of fruity yeast. Taste is a little sour for me. Mouthfeel resides quickly with a small warming on the stomach. Decent lacing. A decent brew, would not turn one down. Pawola22 (783), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2008 750ml bottle. Pours a hazy, dull golden orange. Huge fizzy, fluffy, dense white head that dissipates slowly and remains moderately lacy. Big malt profile in the aroma as well as a dominating sweet fruitiness. Belgian yeast strain and sweet, light, herbal spices. Coriander. Citrus and banana. Pretty standard tripel smell to it and not very complex, but still nice. Taste seems to be lacking some balance. Very clean, sweet, sugary, and carbonated, but less yeast and bread taste than most other similar styled beers. Initially malty and quickly moves to a citrus hop, spicy, and slightly dry finish. Palate is medium bodied and carbonated with a little bit of warming alcohol. Overall, a good beer, just a little off. The aroma suggests a higher malt backing than the taste, which is why it seems a little off when balanced with the hops and spices. I guess it doesnt compare to the best tripels out there, but not bad for a local brew. Probably my least favorite of the smokestack series so far. TURDFERGUSON (1606), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 8, 2008 Bottle. Thanks Andrew! Pours an orange golden with a small white head. Nose of clove, potpourri, fruit, and hops. Flavor is fruity and spicy and a little sweeter than I like. Hoped for a little more dryness in the finish. Still, a pretty good example of the style. thejoeshow (232), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Dec 6, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a very nice light golden color with a big, aggressive, bubbly head that has great retention and wonderful lacing. Aroma is very sweet candy aroma with notes of fruits, mainly citrus, power through the big head. Flavor is sort of malty with hints of spice and lots of sweet sugars. Not bad, just not the most amazing triple I have had. Mouthfeel is nice, full and is rather nice on the palate. Overall, very nice offering from Boulevard.
