Commercial Description:
Lately it occurs to us that if, back in 1989, you planned on starting a brewery in the back of your carpentry shop, you’d have been wise to seek out someone like Harold "Trip" Hogue. A collector of ancient Volvos, Trip was well-qualified for the make-do engineering required to coax recalcitrant equipment out of retirement and onto making the first Boulevard beers.

The Tripel style originated in the Trappist brewery of Westmalle Abbey in pre-war Antwerp province. Its numeric moniker results from the old Belgian practice of naming beers based on the amount of malt used in the brew. A "Simple" was the lightest-bodied brew. Doubling the malt bill resulted in a "Dubbel", while a "Tripel" contained three times the amount of malt (and, as a result, three times the amount of alcohol.) True to style, our Long Strange Tripel is a golden ale with estery aromas, a dense, creamy head and a sweet finish.

Thick white head with rich amber color. Belgian-style fruity, strong ale. Not too bitter, but full of flavor. Excellent beer!

Bottle, thanks to tytoanderso, big ups in fact for this one. Aroma of spice, yeast, flowers, and most notably delectable marmalade and honey. Flavor keeps the honey coming with lots of citrus, increasing but still balanced spiciness, biscuity and bready malt, and more yeast. Comes back to the marmalade at the finish. A wealth of flavor, complex, balanced yet notably big and bold. Creamy yet pretty dry mouthfeel. Luscious.

Pours yellow with a tint of orange, white head. The aroma has orange and lemon citrus with a sweet finish. The alcohol is noticable, but not overwhelming in this beer. One of my favorite beers from boulevard-so far

2008/2009 bottles are ridiculously stellar. THE best American-made triple. Bottle conditioned, ideal yeast, so incredibly peppery and alive. You people are either missing something huge here or you just simply lack good taste. THE perfect clone of THE perfect Belgian triple. Unbelievable.

Fabulous beer. The beer welcomes with sweet yeasty smell and the first taste is of... almost spicy sweet tarts. Awesome. The finish on this bright yellow beer leaves you with longing for more. Friend says, "I don’t really like trippels a lot. But, I like this one. I will drink this one."

lemon, orange, peaches, bananas, some pear perhaps. Pepper. Dry yeast flavor. Sweet but not cloying. Tripel with some faint german wheat and american ale characteristics. Very drinkable. A triple a newbie can enjoy.
