Commercial Description:
Boulevard Lunar Ale is a cloudy, russet brown beer, with subtle aromatic notes provided by our special proprietary yeast strain. Lunar Ale’s distinctive rounded, mellow flavor is crowned by a crisp, dry finish. The old world art of bottle conditioning creates a secondary fermentation, resulting in a beer that tastes fresher, better, longer.

Some head on pour. Cloudy, light brown color. Aroma is earthy yeast and fresh grain. Flavor balances hops with a not unpleasant bready, almost cracker-like crispness. Had this one on tap and I was sad to see the bottom of the glass.

Unremarkable pour...minimal head. Aroma isn’t the most pleasant, but has some hints of spice and yeast (and some skunk). Kind of odd for a Dunkel, but maybe that’s just me...Relatively sweet flavor with some hints of lemon and coriander...not unlike some hefes. Not the best from Boulevard...

Despite the name given, it’s more like a pale ale. Brown ale taste? Where? Very basic. Very plain. I don’t get why folks around here love Boulevard.

From bottle into pint glass at Cody’s Road House in Mattoon, IL. Pretty understated ale all around. I thought this was more of an English brown ale with less roasted malts...flavor was malty and sweet. Definitely sessionable. Not bad.

Great intro into boulevard’s world. Does carry a seemingly Lunar taste. A very good seasonal ale.

Tap @ Nomad World Pub, Minneapolis: Dark mahogany, nice head and light lacing. Nose of bright fig and fruit, yeast and some spicy esters. The flavor is balanced, nice body, spice, sweet belgian style but not the right belgian serving method. Cold pint filled to the brim, yum.

Super hazy deep brown coloured body with a muddy appearance and a light tan head. Aroma of bananas, wheat, yeast, nuts, honey, curacao and coriander seed...really - what isn’t there to like?!? Light to Medium-Bodied; Mild wheatie taste with spices showing first, then fading to a smooth sweetness. Aftertaste shows coriander seed, nutmeg, cardamom & curacao most...coupled with a strong wheat taste. Overall, a good dunkel in my opinion - one of the better ones...definitely worth trying! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Joe’s Place in Oklahoma City (Norma), Oklahoma on 03-October-2007.

12oz bottle, courtesy of Gregis. Thanks, Greg! Pours a hazy cola color; off-white head with patchy lacing. Light cola and brown sugar in the aroma; quite reserved. Medium, chewy mouthfeel: the carbonation is a bit too much (fluffy and uncontrolled), with a decent cola and brown sugar maltiness at the core; slightly one-dimensional, basic wet malt character, with a vanilla note and bananas at mid-palate; ultimately unremarkable. Medium, dry clove and cola finish.
