Commercial Description:
Boulevard Lunar Ale is a cloudy, russet brown beer, with subtle aromatic notes provided by our special proprietary yeast strain. Lunar Ale’s distinctive rounded, mellow flavor is crowned by a crisp, dry finish. The old world art of bottle conditioning creates a secondary fermentation, resulting in a beer that tastes fresher, better, longer.

Poured a hazy amber color with a small creamy off-white head. The aroma was malty and fruity with a little spicey phenol. Some wheaty lemon notes. The flavor had a malty start with a dry finish. Light yeasty taste with spicey notes. Light body with a thin dull mouthfeel. Mild tartness.

Pours muddy brown with a small tan head. Nose is banana, cloves, coriander. Flavor of banana/clove phenols, very muted and rather sour wheat, water. Watery mouthfeel. OK dunkel but no superstar.

Bottled, BB 12/24/07. Poured clear coppery brown with a quickly-receding cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up a nice blend of toasty banana and chocolate notes.. some caramel and grainy notes come across as well. The flavor had a consistent caramel and semi-sweet chocolate presence throughout with mellow banana rising at the middle and riding through the finish.. grainy and herbal notes provide accents.. sweet chocolate and banana at the end. Lighter-bodied with a creamy middle and more prickly notes at the back.. a bit watery at times. This was an OK beer that I would drink again.

On draught at Kauffman Stadium in KC, served in a plastic cup. Pours a darkish-brown color with a medium thin off-white head that diminishes to a compact layer that stays. Lacing spotty but again it was a plastic cup. Aroma of toasted malt, wheat and caramel. Medium-bodied with a somewhat banal flavor profile of roasted malt, banana and caramel. Not much bitterness. The finish is sweet spices and more malt. A lot better than most beers you can find at a ball park, but overall pretty average.

(Bottle) Pours a brown color with a small amount of tan head. Good lacing. Interesting aroma of spice and light yeast. Taste is malty, citrusy, and spicy (clove, nutmeg, and slightly nutty)... which is an interesting mix. Medium mouthfeel. Not a run-of-the-mill beer, which means it’s worth trying at least.
