Commercial Description:
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy copper with a medium creamy off white head. The aroma is pine, spice, and sweet malt. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is a spicy hop bite at first with a nutmeg and bitter finish. A complex english strong ale from Boulevard.

Pours an orange-red with little carbonation, and medium thick off-white head and okay lacing,.. Nose and flavor were both pretty muted, and what was there seemed to be a hint of alty fruit, molasses and coffee. At only 6.1%, alcohol never did make itself known. Finish was short lived and non-descript. Not a bad drinking beer, just not what I would think of as a holiday winter warmer.

Bottle from South Bay Drug. 2008. Ruby amber color with a multifinger beige head. Aromas of evergreen and malt. Medium body with frothy carbonation. Starts with a hint of treacle and a lot of piney hop. Medium dark fruits. Slight roasted malt. Finishes tangy. Good one.

Bottle, with Tommy at his Winter Six Pack tasting. Dark red/gold, light tan head. Viney, candy hops, cinnamon. A musky green sort of aroma. Resiny green fruit flavor. Nutty, coppery aftertaste. Full, sweet palate, very soft. Initial score: 6/4/6/5 13. Had a second bottle a couple of days later that seemed in slightly better shape. Hop character brighter, cleaner. Couple of point bump.

Split with Butters. Bottle. Slightly cloudy amber color. Dark fruit aroma. Dark fruit, little red wine like. Makes me think of port without the sweetness. Nice finish.

Bottle from S&K Beverages in Plano, TX. Pours a deep amber/orange, hazy, with beige head. Aroma of sweet malt and fruit, and molasses. Flavor is sweet malt, molasses, fruit, and has a noticeable small hop bitter. Mouthfeel is medium-heavy with high carbonation. Overall, pretty tasty.

Highly charged brew with thin malting and a spice that seems to be coming from the bittering hops, actually a decent thirst quencher that would probaly be a better summer ale
