Commercial Description:
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops.

BAH! HUMBUG! I love BLVD beers... i do. But something about this bitter and astringent finish makes me shy away... I’ll keep trying... maybe it will be a happy ending like zon (?)

Nice fruit and bite. One of the better holiday beers I’ve had so far. I have been happy with Boulevard beers and this is no exception. Huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh-huh...he said nut.

A surprisingly fruity winter ale whose interesting character I didn’t want to stop investigating. Pours dark amber with a lasting beige head. Sweetish, roast-malty nose with citrus notes and a hoppy tinge. The flavor’s highlight was this tart, lightly sweet, spicy center that had me thinking of homemade fuit punch. Balanced by a healthy drollop of hops. Above-average carbonation, lightly bitter finish. Somehow the parts fit together funny but I enjoy the finished product.

Bottle. Deep dark brown in color with a nice fluffy off white head. Malty caramel hoppy aroma. Nutty spicy citrusy notes. Malty roasty caramel flavor. Finish is spicy. Roasty notes. Medium bodied. Nice beer.

Pours with a very thin and creamy light tan head that diminishes slowly. The body is a cloudy deep burnt red/amber with tan hues. The nose is vegetal, with toasted malt playing an off-key second fiddle. I don’t care for this at all, immediately, and while it’s not offensive it seems overprocessed and unimpressive. Christmas spiced nuttiness and toasty bread. Alcohol is detectable. The flavor is mildly bitter from ample hops and a sore lack of maltiness. Sweetness is medium and lingers into the vegetal finish. The mouthfeel is creamy, sticky, medium to medium-full bodied. Blah.

Poured a deep copper, small craggy head, fades way to rapidly. Aroma is subdued, but there are some caramel and malty notes, with only the faintest hint of hops. Flavor is a bit more assertive, with a slight roasted component coming through. decent.

Pours almond skin brown, hazy 1 finger tan head fades quickly with some lacing to last a little while. Aroma of hops and sweet walnuts. Flavor is of a pleasant warm malt with plenty of hops, finish is a little sticky with sweet malts and citrus hops finish. Great winter brew

Bottle thanks to pepsican. Pours a nice, deep red-brown color with a decent light tan head that diminishes to a ring. Aroma of slight hops, a bit of citrus, molasses. Slight spice and sweet malt in the opening that leads into a spicey, slightly fruity hop finish. Smooth and easy to drink, with a nice hop bite on the finish. Nice offering and big thanks go out to pepsican for hooking me up.
