Commercial Description:
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops.

2007 12 oz bottle from mreusch; BB 02/01/08; Nose of brown sugar, caramel, and light vanilla; lightly hazed copper with a big beige head; flavor has pepperiness, caramel, and molasses with a lightly bitter finish. Decent ale.

This beer pours a deep orange/amber with a thin to no tan head. On the nose I get grapefruit, malt and sugar. the flavors are spicy grapefruit and a little warm I suppose. This is a different winter warmer if you ask me. Not a bad beer, but could have been done so much better. Cheers!

12oz bottle, courtesy of mj. Thanks, Mike! Pours a hazy mahogany color; off-white head with excellent retention and medium-bubbled lacing. Some piney and spicy hops in the aroma, with a bit of green apple / leafy hops poking through. Chewy toffee and cola and green apple in a medium-to-full mouthfeel; pleasant bit of mild spice (some clove and cinnamon), with a well-integrated spicy hoppiness and chewy candy sugar throughout; a pleasant, drinkable english strong ale (?), though this doesn’t really have the hop character I’d normally associate with an English beer. Medium, candy sugar and light clove finish; somewhat drying.

Didn’t know anything about this beer, and i was pleasantly surprised. 1.5 finger head, decent retention, decent lacing. Aroma is a bit weak, but pretty good. Hoppy with some caramel, some brown ale type malt notes. Hops are pretty strong in the taste but again its like the aroma. Some brown ale & psuedo-nuttiness comes through more in the finish.

dark brown with some hints of red. I don’t smell anything but my cohort says if smells like hop. Medium to light mouth feel with some brown malts and spices with a long icky hop aftertaste.

Pours a ruby amber color with a nice full off white head that diminishes yet stays. Aroma is nutmeg and hop flowers. Taste is nutmeg, cinnamon, maple syrup, and roasted malt. A fine holiday season beer!

Bottled (thanks heemer77!). Amber colour, mediumsized beuige creamy head. Aroma is hops, malts, some grass and caramel. Flavour is really flowery hops with much grass. Also some burnt sugary hints in the flavour.

Bottled (BB 02/2007)
Ruby dark color, off-white small steady head. Bready hoppy, a bit sweetish aroma. Nutty hoppy, rye-bread hoppy, also a bit sweetish with caramelly notes. Mix of brown ale and IPA.
