Commercial Description:
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops.

Too many flavors going on with this seasonal. A littley syrupy for my liking. Had a nice tan head that lasts.

(draught) dark brown with almost no head. Hops aroma. Flavor is dark malt with a hint of spice and a hops finish.

(Bottle) Pours a dark copper color with a decent tan head. A couple of different malts dominates the flavor. Brown sugar, burnt caramel, and floral hops give this beer a pretty unique flavor for a holiday ale. This is probably one of my favorite holiday ales that I’ve tried this year. Definitely worth a try.

2007 version: Cloudy, dark amber body, with a very thin, off-white head. Hardly any lacing. Citrus, pine, and malt in the nose; rather faint, but clean and inviting. Hop bitterness and some sweet malts in the initial flavor, and the finish is dominated by dry bitter hops with a somewhat creamy base. Great carbonation and weight. This beer is definitely better after it sits in your glass for a few minutes, so please be patient. Happy holidays!

Bottle. Boulevard has some great beers. This is perhaps the best! It is a dark reddish brown, whith good aroma, and nice mouthfeel and just a hint of spice. A perfect winter beer. At 224 calories, better drink this one slowly!

Bottle, pours slightly cloudy deep amber color with a moderate creamy tan head that dissipates; good lacing. Aroma of hops, malt, some yeast and slight molasses. Has a bit of a hops bite that tames quickly as the malt takes over on the finish. Nothing earth shattering or complex, but overall a nice balance and a good holiday beer. Very drinkable.

Draught at Old Chicago in Coralville, IA. Attractive hazy reddish-brown color with thick bubbly off white head that laced the glass. Sprucy hop aroma and flavor balanced by sweet malt and a hint of alcohol. I though this one was stronger than 6%. Very tasty beer.

on tap. pours a dark amber with a decent head. a solid brew from Boulevard with a nice balance of earthy notes, floral hop profile and some toasted malt. did not quite live up to the label of "winter warmer" IMO but still a nice brew.
