Nov 26, 2005 Having seen the high rating and having read some of the ratings of this beer, I must be drinking the wrong stuff. I found the beer to taste of sour mash and to be surprisingly bitter. It looked like an inviting ale and the aroma was somewhat intriguing. However, the beer itself left me wishing for more. Maybe the next one will change my mind.

Nov 22, 2005 Updated: Dec 13, 2005Aroma of spice and some hops as well. Flavor is spice on top of a citrusy hop base flavor. I think Buch Dich put it nicely when he said, "A touch of spice covers a dark hoppy ale with a warm wool blanket." This is a nice brew indeed. Too bad it’s not available for very much of the year.

Nov 4, 2005 2005 bottle poured into a standard pint. The bottle has a BBD of 020106. Pours a light brown with a tinge on red. I couldn’g get a good read on the head because it was gone before I could see. Hazy as hell. I get a lot of hot alcohol in the nose. Some spice. Touch of hops. Fruity esters. Pretty sweet. Molasses, cinnamon, all spice. Medium bodied. Not great.

Aug 1, 2005 Poured brown with a hint of red. Aroma and flavor of sugar, hops and some pepper. Seemed kind of odd after the previous beers I had. Semi-dry bitterness for the finish. Need to try on it’s own to be fair.

Mar 11, 2005 from the bottle. shared with flemdawg. poured a mahogany with light tan head. aroma, sour grapes, honey, malts apples the sour kind, grapefruit, molasses. flavor caramel, musty,wheat, malts and just a hint of alcohol. a little weak but not to bad.

Mar 11, 2005 Light hazy amber with orange-red shine and with small light colored head. Nice malty aroma’s with some spices and a ggod dosis of hops and herbs. Taste is smooth and dry at the same time, it has a fine selection if herbs and spices. The afthertaste is dry malty and ends with a fine bitter touch of hops and lemon zest.

Mar 9, 2005 Bottle courtesy of BeerHandy. Pours mahogany brown with a beige head. Has a decent spiced malt arome to it, maybe some nutmeg and ginger? Flavor is roughly the same with a decent hop finish to it. Very good winter brew in my opinion.

Mar 5, 2005 Hazy reddish brown color, like cider, with a thin off white to light tan head. The aroma was spiced apples, cherries, some wheat and sour grapes. Moslty wheaty in the taste with a bit of honey, some apples and a bitter wheaty finish. Not much in the way of a mouth feel, but almost watery though. Not outstanding but not horrible.
