Aroma is fairly weak with some malt and a bit of spice. Flavor isn’t all that bad. Some caramel malt flavor, some nice hops and is fairly smooth. Not the best xmas beer ever, but far from the worst. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2009 Bottle from South Bay Drugs. Color is an overly brown tinted mahogany with a thin layer of foam. The initial aroma is faint and only has a notable scent of caramel malt. Flavor is tad bit astringent because of a bland serving of semi sweet malt and only the slightest hint of caramel and some flavor of nut indescribable since it is too hard for me to decide. punkeedo (465), San Antonio, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2009 2009 Tap (from the 2008 season). An average Christmas Ale, which pales in comparison to Samuel Adam’s Old Fezziwig Ale. Appears a nice copper-amber with a moderately quickly dissipating head. Aroma of dark malts, almost burned, with a bit of cinnamon. Begins a bit watery, but ends with a spicy hoppiness that reminds me of other Christmas ales. Overall, this is a valiant effort, but proves to be unfulfilling in the long run. jkwalking05 (1485), Arlington, Texas, USA

Aroma is of hops and grass with a light spiciness. Taste is mostly hops and spices with a little toffee. Hophead22 (1105), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

Slightly sweet spicyness too it. Not alot of flavor to me, pretty easy to drink, slight butter flavor. Eh. Soonah (970), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 23, 2009 Attractive ruby and brown pour with an almost two-finger tall off-white head. The aroma was lots of malt with an almost generic addition of "winter warmer" spices. The flavor is roasted malt, clove, cinnamon, light hops and some tart fruitiness. The mouthfeel was very dry (as the spiced ales tend to be). Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 21, 2009 Pours mahogany with a white head. Smells of tea, raisins, earthy. Tastes earthy and rosey with a mild peppery finish. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 20, 2009 Not what I would consider for a Christmas brew, but nice nonetheless. Pours a dark copper colour with a small off white head. Aroma is a little dull, but noticeable ginger, oak and grass on the nose. Taste is rich and full, finishes slightly off and has a taste that is a litle alcohol-y.
