Commercial Description:
Nutcracker Ale is Boulevard’s special offering for the holiday season. This hearty, warming brew is a classic winter ale, deep amber in color, with hints of molasses balanced by the "spiciness" of Chinook hops.

wow. feliz navidad. smells like a friggin greenhouse! honeydew melon and blackberry and mango. this is all fruit to me, no spice in the aroma. dark caramel, light tan head, great lacing. light bodied, juicy, lip smacking. cherry and nutmeg, good relaxed take for the style. Yummy plummy finish.

Bottle: Pours a dark brown with a minimal white head...nose is full of dried, red apples and spruce. Some dark roasted malt compliments...much more highly carbonated than I expected. Flavor is red apple, some subtle spice and and earthy/spruce hop finish. Good brew, nice change of pace from the over-spiced majority of Christmas brews.

Tap. Pours a deep slightly hazy orange color. Flavor is crisp and clean, caramelized malts that are slightly sweet followed by a floral and pine like finish. Somewhat thin on the palate but OK. Pretty solid session beer here.

(bottle) Pours a hazy amber/orange with a large off-white head that eventually settles to a thin ring around the pint glass. Aroma is solid, with scents of sweet roll glazed with orange marmalade, cinnamon, barley, and shades of pineapple. The flavor follows with some caramel and dough initially, which transitions towards pineapple and bitter grapefruit peel coupled with toasty barley in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is appropriate. "A solid 3.5, right in the meaty part of the curve. It’s not showing off, it’s not falling behind."

Dark amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma of malt and hops. Nice tasting- little sweetness to it, some caramel. Hoppy at the end. Nice lacing.

At $6.49 a sixer I could not pass this up especially given the brewery. nice dark orange color, decent white head, suspended yeast particles throughout. Smells like hops at first, almost minty but maybe I’m imagining things, then its a more caramel smell, nice. The taste is more of the same and is a little different than what I would expect from the style. This seems like a well hopped pale ale with a nice caramel maltiness, I wonder if they used spices. Good stuff. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-08-2009 04:04:54

Bottle pours amber brown with a pretty long lived head and some lace. The aroma is citrus and caramel. The flavor is like toast and orange marmalade. The body is pretty rich. Overall, I like this quite well.

12oz bottle (Best By 02/15/10) served in a shaker. Cloudy caramel copper pour with a thin head of beige foam that settled and lasted throughout the glass. Nice rings of lace. The aroma consisted of strong caramel, sweet fruits, citrus/oranges, and also some perfumey esters. The flavor had caramel, candy apples, bread, fruity yeast, and a touch of faint citrus. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied. Lightly carbonated. Rich and malty with a decent dose of American hops. A scaled down barley wine. Pretty decent.

sweet carmely aroma comes around after it sits awhile and warms up; light amber color, cloudy, frothy tan light head, lightly bitter with some sweetness and spiceness, full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, smooth long finish, sticky texture. Very tasty and drinkable beer.
