The nose is slightly floral with some caramel notes.
The flavor is what takes me by surprise here; it is very different from your typical American Pale ale. The malt is very well featured with a nice caramel and biscuit character that for me kind of dominate the flavor. That is not to say that the beer is sweet or anything, just heavily malt accented.
The hops are delicate and certainly lend all the subtle flavors, it reminds me of a English bitter in this aspect. There is a nice bitterness with some spicy notes and just the fleeting bit of citrus.
I like that it’s different, I’m just not sure I would drink it regularly.

Pours a thin long lasting head with good lacing over a slightly cloudy, golden (SRM 10) body...nose of pine, slight resin, bit of yeast....taste initially mild malts evolving into a mild grapefruit bitter finish....mouth feel is rather light, carbontion is rather high. This is a light pale ale. Avengedpoet (325), Mesa, Arizona, USA

Has very little aroma - a tiny tiny bit of hops. Taste is a bit hoppy and quite spicier than their irish red a.k.a. less smooth and easy drinking. Meh. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2009 Light amber gold in color. Fruity, hoppy with lemon grass and a touch of mild sweet malt on the nose. Comes through very smooth and clean on the palette. Missing a great finish but otherwise a very, very solid beer. Pours a very clear, very light amber colired body, with a huge cremy white head, lastingish. Nutty malty aroma, wheaty/grainy smell. Dry aroma, weakish. Dry malty nutty taste. Grainy dry taste. Carbonated. Somewhat tasty session-like.
