The aroma was doughy with some apricots. The taste was metallic with some bread notes. A little bit of potato. The coolest thing here was the retro label and the long neck bottle from Boulevard. Otherwise, this was just like a well made pale lager, certainly not like and real pils as I was expecting. They want to get the Bud crowd with this one and I hope they make some inroads. theisti (1681), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 2, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased at Lukas in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is clear pale golden with fins carbonation. Head builds up nicely to a 2 inch pure white. Head falls fairly quickly with minimal lacing. Aroma of generic malt and slightly grassy hops. Behind that is slight dry straw. Faint noce overall. Taste is starts with toasted malt, transitions into straw grassy hops and finishes with a grainy earthiness. Some light sweetness present, though its more of a nutty sweetness than a fruit or sugar sweetness. Mid taste there is a dirty, bordering on metallic taste that fades fast into a clean finish. Palate is thin to medium, lower carbonation level and a clean crisp finish. Overall, this is a clean and drinkable Pils. Nice to have a local fresh option for a bottled Pils. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2009 Quite fizzy, pale and has terrible foam retention. Small abounts of bready malt with a good balance of hops. The aroma is not particulary impressive and the body is quite light. I Took a "blind" tasting of this and other pilsners while it was in production and didn’t care for it then and don’t care for it too much now. I can appreciate it for what it is; a lawnmower "pils" meant to appeal to the massess much like their wheat beer. mcsquint (93), , Missouri, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass:
Aroma - Golden malt, light herbal hops
Appearance - Straw yellow in color. Thin white head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing.
Flavor - Slightly sweet malt upfront followed by hint of lemon finishing with nice hop bite.
Palate - Light to medium. Somewhat effervescent on the tongue. Fairly dry on the finish
Overall - I was glad to see Boulevard come out with this. It’s a good take on a traditional style. Nothing fancy or extreme. Just a good, solid, well made beer. I could drink a few on a hot summer day....like today!

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Pours a crystal clear pale gold with a frothy white head that diminishes, leaving behind wispy lace. The nose is of clean pils malt with a touch of grassy hops in support. Light-bodied and crisp with a mildly bitter and slightly drying finish. A solid balance of pils malt and grassy, shortly lingering hops. There’s a touch of tin in there as well, but it’s far less defined than many other pilseners I’ve sampled. A solid, fairly flavorful American pilsener; not too shabby for six bucks a sixer. Boulevard will sell a lot of this beer. bblack99 (211), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 24, 2009 6-pack of 12oz bottles, first time I had seen these in mass production. Surprise, it’s a pilsner...not a lot of complexity, but a nice refreshing beer when it’s 100 degrees outside.
I like the earlier description as "biscuit-y" in aroma and taste, but the hop level is higher than the big box brewers offerings giving it a better bitter finish.
Shiny golden color with a medium white head. Thin and a bit watery, but good for the style. zombywoof (362), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 24, 2009 Moderate white head, gold sparkling color. Aroma of bread, grass herbal hop.
Toasted malt, grass and a kiss of spice. Not as good as their ales obviously-an American style lager was one of the few styles Boulevard hasn’t marketed. Good for what it is. mreusch (742), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2009 12oz. sweet looking retro bottle. Pours a clear bright golden with a moderate white head that lingers. Aroma is classic pilsner with toasted malts, biscuit, and light grassy hops. Flavor is also light, with more biscuit and toasted malts and just a hint of citrus and grassy hops. A great hot weather beer and a nice addition to the Boulevard lineup.
